Best Mountain Bike Technology
Juiced bikes for value. Torque sensor is awesome. I used to drive to the bike trails because I had to go up many hills to get there. Now I just ride. Love it.
Good thinking 🤔
Great job Court. I've learned alot about e bikes thanks to you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone in the EBR community.
KOGA exite s ❤👏👏👏🤘Specialized vado 5.0 turbo 👏👏👏👏🤘
Can you give a review on the Juiced Scorpion hyper . Thank You. Court.
What do you know about Frey bikes?
E-Bike is the future.
Good stuff bro 👍👍
Great thoughts, Court! Lots of useful info. I’m still looking.
I have the radcity 2019 and i love it!!!
best looking bike imo is the Surface604 Boar Hunter but the tech I want is dual battery, mid drive, and belt drive.
Patiently waiting for a review on the Delfast Top 2.0
I just bought a new Ariel class C which is mid drive, speed pedelec and I got passed by a guy on a regular bike. All these limitations are arbitrary. You're right on, good job Cort. Love the new videos about everything and this forum is a great idea too.
Love from IRAN😍
Anther great video Court , I've learned so much from your being very thorough & picky too at times ! Always keeping it real 100% is great & Yes each person will find a E-bike to fit them W/ there needs ! I went with Specialized Como 2.0 W/ upgraded 604Wh ! It's just a great bike all around . R&M is my fav E-bike too , after putting a bike together , would run me $9.998 + !!! I like you love the LEVO EMB it rock's so nice to ride…. ! Happy Thanksgiving from Austin Tx !
Do you like and/or recommend Spark Bikes?
Where would you say the 2019 cube reaction hybrid pro 500 ranks? I bought one last week.
"Low IMPACT" seems to be in YOUR video today "throttle only option use" to an extent inconsistent with recent reviews and a reality that enforcing away dangerous conduct on the conduct ALONE is imprudent generally.
New adaptive riding styles make more sense. BATTERIES are at a point now that the pedaling is for exercise or control not a NECESSARY HYBRID contribution.
Mopeds and the empowerment of insurance with ability to strike bad OPERATORS have unrealized potential.
We can SHARE roads but cars must be considered what they are- CORRUPtly unfit for purpose used ALMOST exclusively. The primary purpose for roads being mobility, cars should be limited to levels trulysafe to accomidate after MICROMOBILITY Fleets takes there dibs not vice versa.
I think the best ebike for someone who is new to biking WOULD be a shared high QUALITY model at very low cost. With Luxemburg making transit free I hope the ebikes are fantastic models and no ebike mass produced has ever cost as much as light rail infrastructure.
get the government out of our ebikesno limits on power.
So, in these past 8 years what has influenced you to become more of a man?
Yiiiiiiiii boiiiiiiiii =;})
Fantastic analysis of the electric bike world , I saw you squirm when mentioning Europe and the 250w scenario!! It would be great to have someone like you who could lobby here in the uk to make the case for an e-bike with the same laws as in the USA instead of people like myself ( 66 years old ) who have to struggle with a pathetic motor size which can barely pull up a small hill !!I have watched your reviews since day one and I’m sure unknowingly you have helped so many people make the right choice in the e-bike world …Many Thanks
AWESOME video!! I totally loved it and your opinions are on point!
In particular, Electric bike opponents ("cheating") and European Laws. They SUCK!!
I'm a heavy guy. 250W on an already heavy bike! I could walk faster!! (Well maybe not! LOL. But you get my point?)
Keep up the great videos!! (This is now my favorite to date!!)
Keep up the great work Court! Thanks for your dedication in this space! Cheers!
I agree with you completely I have a EVelo Middrive Full suspension Aries. My very first E bike I ride 8 to 11 miles every day. Not to get to work just to get in shape. Only had it a month and a half. And I’ve also lost 15 pounds And yes it does have a throttle. You would be crazy not to have a throttle. This is an amazing machine. I don’t have anything to compare it to but for the price well worth it. Would definitely buy another one. Seems to be well-made.
Great job Curt
This was a good summery of ya favorites Court. Im now a 50yr old Very Happy owner of the full suspension TREK POWERFLY FS 5 here in the South Island New Zealand. i don't have a question , i just wanted to brag a little about where i am and what i have. Peace from NZ
With this video's lighting choice I was expecting a scary story
With all your years of experience with electric bikes. If you had to buy one for your self. Which would you buy?
I have a problem with Bosch bricking their motors if the owner decides to use a speed dongle on it. I am okay with voiding the warranty if the firmware picks up the delimiter usage, however, bricking the motor seems a bit extreme! Any thoughts? Thanks!
I'm looking forward to a review of the Luna Fixed Stealth as well as the offerings from Juiced Bikes, specifically their Crosscurrent X and Scorpion. Give Ride1Up a good review as well if you haven't already.
What is a DOST anyway? Is that some kind of acronym? I probably have to ask them directly.
Finally convinced me and picked up a Bulls Iconic TR1.
This was great Court, do more of these!
Love the breakdown on classes and telling people to "Get over it". Very true. So good to see the progression of ebikes.
Would it not be cool for a bike controller to select the modes, speeds, power?
Keep going Court.
Thanks largely to your reviews, I just bought a RadCity for my daily commute. I've been bike commuting for a couple of years now and have tried a few different bikes and configurations including converting my commuter bike to an e-bike. It turns out that the RadCity is perfect for my commute because it is affordable ($1500), has a perfect range (about 40-50 miles), comes with everything that I added to my old commuter bike, and there are a lot of great accessories. For me, it really is the Best Electric Bike.
Good for you Court. I really appreciate all that you do and all of your energy. Your efforts are much appreciated and don't go unnoticed. Thank you for being so approachable.
Great channel 🙂
I've had two Juiced Bikes and have the best things to say about them. Hyper scrambler was a gateway drug into getting and electric motorcycle and now my RCS is my favorite bike I've ever had. It goes anywhere and does everything, even though the Hyper was faster.. I now have a motorcycle for that.
25 km/h in Europe is completely stupid. Politicians never have ride a bike
court getting pretty sassy at the end lol
Hi Court. Looking for recommendation for ebike for long distance supported touring ie maybe 100 mile per day with gear on a truck. If I can ask for everything I'd like belt drive and shimano IGH. I'm 68 and looking for something comfortable. No drop bars. Thanks!
I wanted to find the best electric bicycle. And I did my goal was comfort so I bought a long wheelbase recumbent. For those of you that don't know what that is I bought it online from recycled recumbent. Then I bought bbs02 kit. And I am a big guy 6'2" 300 pounds. The diamond frame bicycles are just too uncomfortable for me. No I'm not gonna win the tour DE France with it but that's not what I use it for.
The first key feature to be aware of is TORQUE versus CADENCE sensors. If you can afford it, get a bike with torque sensing instead of cadence. The bike simply feels more natural when pedaling, plus the battery lasts longer. The other key feature is MID DRIVE versus HUB drive. If you can afford it, get a mid-drive. The advantage of mid drive is the gears help the motor, allowing you to go up steeper hills. Hub drives don't take advantage of the gears, it's only capable of a fixed power torque output, even though the bike gears will help our leg power. The last consideration is suspension. If you want to go off-road, get front and rear suspension. A good mid range off-road brand is Haibike, providing good value, if you can afford it. Whatever you buy, be prepared to spend no less than $1500. Anything under that is approaching junk, especially Costco deals. $3500-$4500 can buy a nice off-road Haibike. $7000-$9000 can buy a high end Specialized Levo, one of the best ebikes. 4" Fat tire bikes are interesting because of the smoother ride the fat tire provides without suspension, and they can be ridden on the beach sand and snow, with limitations of course. However these fat tire bikes are heavier, with a little less range. Radpower offers lost cost fat tire bikes for about $1500, one of the better brands for low end budgets, using cadence sensors and hub motors.
You hit the nail on the head with this video. I can add only my own buying experience, and tepid opinion. I live not far from Rad, BlackMax, Pedeco, & Trek. Rode them all. Admittedly, I'm a professional yacht tech 45 yrs, motorcycle enthusiast, and all around gearhead. Therefore, I'm not intimated from buying direct from a builder as I can do my own commissioning, repairs upgrades, and maintenance. So… After many hours of research, I chose two Juiced Bikes for us. The HyperFat 1100, and the Rip Current S. After 1500 miles +-, I've been thoroughly pleased. That stated, for those who are "just" wanting a nice commuter, or recreational rider, accustomed to having their car or motorcycle maintained by a dealer or repair shop I strongly encourage a buyer to buy from a local dealer (if possible) who sells services a brand. This way, there is no stress after your purchase.
I bought the Lectric XP, I wish I had chosen a smaller model, but the ones I saw did not have replaceable batteries. So once the battery dies, you're screwed.
Saying it how it is. Good video 🙂
Court you are the best. Right on … on throttle, trails and more. Bought a RadRover 2 yrs ago on your review! Love it. Town, trails. MTBing. Keep up the excellent GREAT videos and my best to you. WillDyeAdventures (surf, board, bike, hike) Santa Cruz to Mt Shasta.
This year I bought my first electric bike, giant explore e and I love it but I do wish it had a throttle. I have epilepsy and I take a lot of medicine and some days I don't have very much strength but I still need to go to the grocery store and run other errands. I really think every electric bike should have a throttle on it. I only made three changes to my bike when I bought it, I put on a suspension seatpost with a new saddle and new pedals but everything else about the giant explore e been wonderful👍
I have Court's favourite bike! Huzzah!!
Juiced Bikes are the best ebike company out there. And I wouldn't look for no other. I mean there average ebikes are two times better than most of the top ebike companies best ebikes. I'm talking range, speed, power, torque and just simply reliability at a reasonable price for a very good ebike. And that 52V battery platform just puts there batteries on a whole different level compared to the other ebike competitors. Plus there have a large variety of ebikes to fit different customers wants when looking for that perfect choice of an ebike. Juiced ebikes is definitely the way to go.
Thank you for your great videos!!
250watt 15mph no thumb throttle in uk that’s a bit tame needs updating
25km limit for oz.
Sir what about road bikes and not necessarily urban.
You have good knowledge about e-bike, you waste a lot of your time here talking about topics irrelevant to this video, just summarises what you like about the bikes(inlc. features) and why this would help those who are busy.
The best e-bikes are these without these shit ass toxic batteries.
I've been using the tongsheng but I've broken 2 torque sensors since I'm putting a lot more of my own effort in then just relying on it to do the work. Wish it was built a better since it really is good value
If you have the ability building your own has been the way to go for me. I have 2 brand bikes but all had some issue so I designed my own. In this way you can totally get what you want for your particular purpose. The most disturbing part was how much better my build was to the professional designs.
Can u recommend a hardtail middrive for hills? Like within budget ranges 1k to 4k
With Gen 4? Or maybe a more reliable browse?
Hey Court! So glad I found your channel. Learning so much from your clear and honest look on e-bikes. Keep up the good work man! Grts from Belgium
This lighting in this looks like you are in a scary movie. Lol.
Awesome Court. You speak so much sense. 👍
You are right. The classes are silly. And the euro rules are crazy. It should be 20 mph period for class 1. And 30 MPH for class 2. Trails should be limited to class 1 unless they are specifically designated for class 2. 30 mph is crazy fast on a trail. I'm all for a bike that has a speed regulated performance curve but has 1kw or more such that the extra power that can be leveraged to climbing. Class 2 is perfect for commuters and roadies and recreational riders. 18 mph is considered the minimum consistent speed safe for traffic integration for cyclists and 30 mph is what would really get people off cyclists backs about being an impediment to flow of traffic. It really is a bunch if fuddy duddies that hold this back. 30 is a good top speed. that's about where a top tier road cyclist can perform intermittently. Faster than that is too much for most people to successfully control. Hopefully laws will evolve and become more reasonable.
Wow. Great video. I love hearing your perspective. I bought an emtb 5 weeks ago and have put 250 miles on it mostly on trails. My 2020 Felt Surplus 50 has the Shimano e7000 motor. I love it, but my one complaint is That motor stops assisting @ 18.5 mph even though it’s a class 1 and is supposed to assist to 20mph. It’s frustrating feeling it cut out at 18.5. I think it must have something to due with the European limit and them using the same motor for Europe and USA. Thanks for all you do and Happy Thanksgiving !
I just wanna know what good ebike for easy maintenance.. debating between Radbike over magnum
Thanks!! For some insight.
Pay for something around 3500 I don’t think so. I love my rad rover I make 20 miles every day and I’m so glad with my bike
Agree completely on only 2 classes. Yeah my bike isn't legal in NY but we're used to that. This is where the green new deal was born but they don't like ebikes. Hmm.
I’d like to see a review for the scorpion. (Juiced Bikes)
Why are you sitting in the dark?
I bought a vado 4.0 cause of your review!
I love ebikes!
Nice one mate, I love electric bike's, my kit is still as good as new after 5 year's of near daily use. 🤣🙋♂️🙏
Thank you very much for this ! I just got into ebikes . So overwhelmed with all these options of ebikes, I went with SONDORS FOLD X , only because I remember someone talking about it. I hope I made an ok choice , I was reading some people were having issues . What’s your opinion on SONDORS ?
Cort, Your reviews were very helpful in my choice of ebike.
Any electric bike that has more than 7 speeds and top speed above 20mph
Hey cort happy holidays
Are there specific things I should look at or consider when shopping for a used electric bike?
great content thanks cort.
Great honest review.Thank you again .
my choice would be the watt wagon with the bafang ultra mid drive, can be hacked to 1500 watts. Rohloff and gates belt.
The thing that kills your cred Court is when you do things like talk primarily about Bosch, or casually mention Brose as catching up, in a video like this or in your reviews, and totally avoid speaking about Yamaha's mid drives that have FAR less reliability issues than Bosch, with over 7 million drive units in the field, and have actually been building ebikes since the 90's with their own motors. So Bosch comparatively speaking is way late to the game, and is successful primarily due to their heavy marketing heft on the front end, going hard after the ebike makers themselves, focusing first on Europe, then secondarily other markets. Also, mid drives are less than 7% of the ebike market world wide, with mostly hub drives being used. When I first saw you did this video, I thought, I bet the guy talks about and highlights Bosch. And not even 1/3rd of the way, whaddya know its once again about 'Bosch.'
just remember liberals never happy.
I liked the rant! 🙂 It reminded me of Robert from Fully Charged! I love both of your channels btw! <3
There isn't a "best", everything is gimped in numerous ways. MTB's are probably the closest to a complete product, they don't need too much power, so they don't destroy the trails and just enable you to get more runs in. Cargo bikes seem to be the next segment that is furthest along. Road and commute ebikes are a joke and their price premium is several orders of magnitude over a kit, for no real improvement. Things we need in the ebike scene – gearbox (get rid of the derailleur drive train that wears out super quick with an emotor)– carbon belt (yes we have ebike chains, but belts would make much more sense)– rear spring suspension– generally tougher and heavier components (top end bike parts are lightweight for marginal gains and most of the bike r&d is still there)– horizontal "drop outs"– ebike tyres (they are getting better, and i haven't tried them all, but some are only slightly better than normal bike tyres)
I'd also like a "standard" mount system for emotors, but i know that a dream.
Love the reviews. Made my recent purchase because of what I learned from you. I say this with much respect for the knowledge you freely share. You use the word “like” WAY too much. Thanks for taking the time to help the rest of us!
What is the best drive chain to use on a 750w rear hub fat ebike?
You mentioned Rad ebikes. I got one. Fat-tire – my intro to ebikes. Love the thing. I put a ton of thought into that purchase but for my next ebike, I'm deciding what's most important, and I need shock absorption bad. Mid-50's w/rods and pins in my leg. I ride everyday but I would go farther if it didn't beat me up — can you recommend the best seat to put on my rigid rad runner. I totally love this as my into ebike, but a good shock-absorbing seat would really help
