What Is A Slopestyle Mountain Bike?

– Some of you been
asking me this question, “What is a slope style bike all about?” Some say it’s a dirt jump bike, you’re kinda a little bit wrong. This bike has front suspension
and rear suspension. Let me talk you through it. So, as usual I’m gonna start from the ground and work my way up. First off, we’ve got tyres and wheels, basically just a 26 inch, no 29″, no 27.5″ or 24
inch in this category, just 26″, super strong, light-weight rims that can take an absolute hammering and when it comes to tyres, a bit like the dirt jump bike, super lightweight, bit of an XC tyre with a low profile on the stuck pattern to give you that little bit
extra less rolling resistance. When it comes to PSI, I like to run mine at about 60 to 65 PSI, bit like my dirt jump bike. Next up, we have drivetrain. We’ve got two different options here. You’ve got gears and
you’ve got single speed. It’s a bit 50/50 in this category. For me, I’m running a single speed set up with a 32 tooth on front
and a 14 on the rear. So when it comes to crank set up it’s primarily just mountain bike. And when it comes to the pedals, it’s obviously flats, no clips, because you want your feet
to be loose as a goose for them Supermans. So all comes down to the heart of this rig and that is the frame. Here we have dirt jump bike, it’s pretty simple
looking, sleek, basic. Here, this, is the slope style bike. That little black thing there, that is called a rear shock. That gives it the full suspension element. That gives you 100 mil worth of travel for those extra huge jumps. Just gives you all that cushioning for them extra big jumps. That is a slope style bike. So the structure of the bike. Being a full suspension naturally gives you that little bit more
weight added to that rig. But this is key when it
comes to ride big jumps, because you don’t necessarily want the lightest bike on the market you want a bit of a bike that
has a little bit of weight that keeps you stable on those huge jumps. So we’ve reached the top of this bike, the cockpit. So that’s the stem, the bars,
the grips, and the brakes. Primarily exactly the
same as the dirt jump bike with a short stem, narrow bars, one or two brakes
depending on what you want. For me, I’m running my bars at 760, a 40 mil stem, one brake, it’s the rear. It’s a hydraulic disc brake with an extra long hose that
I’ve wound around my head tube, to give me that little
bit more extra flexibility with spinning of bars or my bike. So that is the slope style bike. If you have any questions or comments, let me know in the comments below. Oh and if you click this logo right here, this one right here, you’ll subscribe and you
