Was ist Bikepacking?

Hi, I’m Peter from ORTLIEB, and I’ve brought you some bags for bikepacking today. What is bikepacking, actually? “Bikepacking” comes from long-distances races in the USA where cyclists had to be self-sufficient. They had to store all their equipment on their bike and still be able to ride over terrain. In classic bike touring, it is not important if the bike has a wide load. With bikepacking, the equipment has to be close to the frame for off-road riding. We have developed watertight bags for this, our speciality at ORTLIEB. They are the first watertight ones on the market. We call them the “four heroes for your adventure”. The first product is the Handlebar-Pack. As the name indicates, this is for mounting underneath the handlebar. Its 15 litre volume makes it ideal for carrying light baggage, such as a sleeping bag or camping mat. Both sides of the Handlebar-Pack have our classic roll enclosure. The Handlebar-Pack gives you super-fast access to your equipment when riding. The belt straps with quick-release buckles for final mounting have spacers underneath. Eight of these are supplied. You can vary the number of spacers when mounting the Handlebar-Pack. To make mounting easier, there are Velcro straps for pre-installing the Handlebar-Pack. Only afterwards is it finally mounted with the belt strap. The Handlebar-Pack also has an elastic cord mesh. This allows you to store a jacket or similar while riding. On the side, there are compression straps to fasten additional equipment. The Handlebar-Pack is ready for attaching the Accessory-Pack. It is fastened with the four buckles. You see the combination here. I would also like to point out the belt strap here below on the head tube. This guarantees that the Handlebar-Pack is firmly secured. The second product is the Accessory-Pack. The Accessory-Pack adds an extra volume of 3.5 litres to the Handlebar-Pack. It can also be used as an individual bag. On the back, there are straps that are used to attach it to the Handlebar-Pack. There are also corresponding Velcro straps for directly fastening to the handlebar. To use the Accessory-Pack alone, you need the enclosed strap with spacer to mount the bag on the head tube. With the enclosed strap, you can also use the Accessory-Pack as a shoulder bag or fanny pack. The third product is the Frame-Pack. ORTLIEB offers the Frame-Pack in two sizes: with a 4 and 6 litre volume. The watertight zipper meets the IP67 standard. The bag is ideally suited to transporting heavy baggage, for example tools or a cooker, low on the frame. The extremely adhesive Velcro straps perfectly position the Frame-Pack on the frame. The Velcro straps are also adjustable and can be variably positioned on the bag. The fourth hero designed by ORTLIEB is the Seat-Pack. This saddlebag is for mounting on the saddle post and the saddle rails. The compression straps and the valve, which you already know from the dry bags, allow the volume to be easily reduced from 16.5 to 8 litres. There is a drawstring mesh on the top of the bag and four reflectors on the back. These are visible in a compressed state as well. The Seat-Pack also has holders for a rear light if you want to ride on the road as well. An additional internal reinforcement also maintains the shape of the bag when you are riding on a trail. These four watertight bags will make you perfectly equipped for your next bikepacking You can find more information about our products at our website, on Facebook or YouTube.
