I couldn’t wait to go for a ride with my DH Excuse me! Can you give me a 8 hex? Okay.. Do you have the shock pump? Thank you! 15 hex? I got a flat tyre, do you have a new one? Thanks! Will I be able to go for a ride? Toto! I’ll take your bike because I have to buy the bikepass! The most annoying thing when I’m about to go to ride is the people who ask for my tools There are a lot of other bad behaviors that make waste time and therefore fun Today we will see how to perfectly face a day in bikepark Before starting for a riding day we have to be sure to have everything we need Helmet Tube A complete tool kit Fast-strap Pump Gopro and accessories Multitool and tire levers Tire Red Bull This is what I keep in my backpack so everything I consider essential It’s not important to keep all these things with me when I ride I just keep these things in my backpack while when I’m riding I take with me multitool levers A tire when I go for an enduro ride It also depends on what I planned to do Of course I will never bring with me… …all of these things while I’m riding In addition to all these things I’ve shown you I also take with me some specific parts which are the same mounted on my bike To make you understand I know that in Italy I will never find this handlebar so as I’ll ride downhill today and I mount that kind of handlebar I took the same extra handlenbar If I brake the cranks I have the same extra pair So.. …I try to bring with me everything I cannot find in the place where I’m going to ride For instance When I have a slopestyle contest in this box I always put a pedal bearing with a crankset Also some spokes which are particular just for my wheels because they are thicker I know that aren’t easy to find so I bring them with me If I forget the knobs at home I know that I could easily find them and ride with another kind of knobs It’s not a problem So.. well.. Today we are in bikepark so today we’ll need a multitool Gopro on the helmet And we are ready to start a fantastic day Guys I completely know that before going to a bikepark you always watch a thousand videos on Youtube and you know every trail because I do that too But the first thing you have to do in bikepark is to check the sign At the beginning of every trail there’s a sign like this Remember… never start with a black trail The first thing ever to do when you start riding is the warm up phase with the study of the course Then this phase can be split in two parts depending on if we already know the bikepark so we are familiar with the trails or if it’s the first time there If we are beginners and it’s the first time trying a trail we won’t start with a red or black trail but with a blue one While everyone who already knows the bikepark can try a red trail but facing the jumps slowly for the first lap so don’t pass them if you don’t know very well how to do it Also because it’s the beginning of the season and maybe there are a lot of new features I know that the first lap you will be hyped but I recommend you to restrain yourself and face the first lap slower than how you would So we warmed up then we have some laps yo settle in The second phase The most important that must be always kept in mind is the progression phase For example now we are on this jump We’d like to face it and as you can see it is a double and it is long about 7-8 metres How can we face it the first time? The best thing we can do when we see a jump like that is to stop for a while beside it Never stay in the middle because it’s dangerous! So stop beside it Look at it and analyze it Look at how steep the kick is Where the landing is, so how big the gap is If you have the possibility you should look at someone else doing it to understand from where he start or from where he stops to brake In this case this jump is very easy because as you can see up there there’s a flat where everyone, after having done the previous jump stops from there you have to stop to brake and then you will easily pass this jump If someone doesn’t pay attention maybe.. do the berm then pedals and lands in the berm over there So remember to analyze the situation and then act The talk about progression counts not only for the jumps in bikepark but also for a steep part or for a berm It’s the same thing When we arrive at the obstacle we look at it then we search for the best line and lastly we do it Last but not least Keep in mind that it’s essential to stop to have lunch and to drink Administer your day also in this way… I mean If you arrive in the early morning you will probably ride in the morning then you will have lunch and right after you will start riding again But if you arrive in the late morning eat something immediately and then ride all afternoon also because often bikeparks close at 4-5:30 p.m. In the next tutorials I will analyze every notion learnt with the pumptrack videos of last year but that time applied on the mountain trails See you in the next video and hyped!
