Serious Mountain Bike Airtime | GMBN’s March Sends Of The Month

– Mr. Ashton are you ready to send it? – Oh my God, oh my God I’m ready. – You ready? – I wasn’t that ready. – ‘Cause it’s this month’s
Send it of the Month. – Yeah, we get your sends every week. We ask for them on the Dirt Shed Show. And the great thing about
sending it is we can all do it. Because what it’s about
is pushing yourself beyond your comfortable limit and just tryin’ that
thing you think you can do but you’re not sure, and then you send it. You’re like, “I’m just gonna send it” and it happens. – Commit. – And what’s amazing is that these days you guys film it and then send it to us and we can kinda have a look,
enjoy it, be scared by it. – And watch that scary moment.
– Look at how lucky you were, unlucky you were and
basically take that moment in. And from all these videos we’ve got we’re gonna choose our
favorite today, Blake. I’m gonna pick one, you’re gonna pick one. And then from that one,
we’re gonna battle it out. And see if we can decide a winner. We’ll maybe just flip a coin, I dunno. But someone is gonna
win a GMBN race jersey. – Ooh. – And– – Any one of them, of your choice. – And, and a pair of socks. – Whoa! – ‘Cause I like the idea
of top and tail, you know. Top and tail. – Yes. – So, we’re gonna start with
Rick on his stump jumper. Big gap! – Ooh! – Big! – That’s sent because if he went wrong, there’s no case pad on that thing. – I’ll tell you what, that
is the ugliest jump to not… If you cased that – If you cased that. – You’d snap the back of your bike off. – You’d snap everything off. – Let’s take ourselves
through that one more time. – Yeah, yeah, yeah. – This is about 20 to 25 feet. – I can see that. – Look at that. – Yeah it’s pretty big isn’t it? – I tell you what. – He sent it. – He sent it, and he’s nailed it. He’s absolutely nailed it. – You said it. – If I could have… If I could have a photo of
me, me jumpin’ like that. – Ooh, look at that. – I mean. – Look at that! – The height, how high do
you think he is up there? Nine feet, nine, 10 feet? – Yeah, nine, 10 feet, well,
to his eyeballs height, it’s probably like 20 feet,
the same width as the gap. – Like it Rick. – Uh-huh. – Do you think this could
be your favorite already? I’m gonna hold off. – Right now it’s my favorites winning. – Yeah. – ‘Cause we’ve only seen one. – That’s not sayin’ much,
but I’m gonna hold off, I think it’s good, Rick has
definitely set a standard. Okay, next up is Joe on his BT Rockrider. He’s doing a big old drop. I think he’s got someone– – Ohhh, some rocks to ride there. – I think he’s got someone leading him in. So we’re gonna see the
first rider comin’ in, and then Joe’s the second rider. – Yeah, so here’s his mate. – We’re gettin’ good gauge
of what the drop’s like. – Well, that’s pretty, that’s pretty. – Good 10 feet. – Yeah. – Go Joe! – Ahhh, sent it. – He’s on a hot tail. – Nice little step up afterwards. – There’s a step up there. – Nice, nice. So Joe can prove– – Really good. – He can start sending it off that drop into the step up. – Now that is proper sending. – That is very cool. That’s a nice drop that one. – Nice, that’s pretty cool drop Matt. – Like that. I can’t fault that really. – I can’t fault that. – That’s just made me wanna go there. – Yeah, yeah. Do you think that he did it on a hot tail I’m not too sure if it… – Let’s watch it one more time enjoy it. C’mon Joe. – C’mon Joe. – Go on Joe. – Jesus mate. – Go Joe! Go Joe! Send it! Send it! – Yeah!
– Yeah! He is on a hot tail. – It’s nice, nice. – He proper sent that. – I like that a lot, right. – Ohhh. – Next up Samuel and his Trek Remedy 9. – Ooo, my brother’s got that bike. – In Thun, Switzerland. – Who? Oh, Thun. Thun. – This is a pretty high dirt jump at the dirtpark Steffisburg
in Thun, Switzerland. – Been there, ridden it. – But I was really scared of it finally came back and
just to just send it! – That’s a good bike
park, I’ve ridden there. – Really. – You know Rocket A is there? – You like it oh, you, you. – Rocket A is there. – Rocket A. – Swatch Rocket A. – You were talking about
going there weren’t you? – Mhmm. – Right, here we go then. Let’s see Samuel. Send this jump. Oh my god, look at the roll in. – The roll in is big, yeah. – Go on Sam boy! Whoa! And he just made it. – Just made it yeah. It’s quite daunting that thing. Yeah. – Honestly that was close. – That was. – That was close. – Whoa. – You nearly didn’t make that Samuel – You nearly didn’t make it. – You sent it fair play but you was dicing with death right there. I’m watching that one again. – Yes, he sent that. – That is a huge roll in. Talk about intimidating. Hang time. He rides it out nice though. Wasn’t that nice? Fair play, fair play. I bet it felt good. You know that when you feel like– – It’s a relief, he’s gonna
go back up and do it again. – You’re like, “I didn’t wanna do that.” And then, “Oh god I never
have to feel that again.” Until you spot the next thing. – Yeah. – And then you’re like, “Here we go.” – Same feeling again. – Here we go, I know I’m
gonna do it this time. – That’s pretty good. – All right, next up we’ve got Scott on his custom Carerra full sus. – Where is that? – This is in Moors Valley
in Dorset in the UK. – Oh! So this is quite close to home to me. – This is homeland. Having watched me and his
big sister do this jump he decided it was time to just go for it. – Yeah. – No easy round it so once committed there’s
only one thing for it. Send it! And this is Scott doing just that. Sorry, Scott’s the author. So I actually don’t know
the name of this rider. (laughs) But we’re gonna call him, Scott. – David. – C’mon Scott. – There’s his sister. Oi, he’s got a GMBN race jersey. – Honestly man, that was perfect. – That was amazing. – That didn’t really
even look like send it, it looked so nailed. I don’t think for a moment he wasn’t gonna do that. – He had to commit. Cause you see he couldn’t get around it. – You gotta go for it. So nice. And in a GMBN top. We’re still calling you Scott but I don’t think that’s your name you are now my favorite. – Ah, what’s my favorite? – Well, you’re gonna have
to stick with Samuel. – I will. – I’m going with Scott now because I think the really
cool bit about sending that right is Scott had to make
the decision a long way back. – Yeah. – Then that means you’ve got
that like 20 feet of like– (quick breathing) – It’s too late now! – Of brakes. – It’s too late now. – Yeah. – Right, next up we have got… Ohh, we have got Jay on his old Bayor. Oh it looks like he’s using
a little kicker ramp here. – He’s got a kicker out. – Outside the school in
Hassocks, West Sussex. Again in the UK. We’ve dropped back to
our homeland serious. – Sending. – Yeah street riding with six-year-old son Billy in Hassocks. We found a bank at the back of the school. Tell you what there’s so much
riding to be done at schools. It’s illegal, schools don’t like it, but it’s brilliant riding in schools. – I used to do it. A lot. – Let’s just note how many
brilliant skate videos have happened in schools. How many brilliant FPV drone videos have happened in schools? Loads. Absolutely loads. I mean google it. – So many. – We brought Billy’s ramp with
us and Billy decided to… Guess what he decided to do. – Send it!
– Send it! I’m gettin’ used to doing that. – I like it. – Right next up we’ve got… No sorry. Here it is Jay comin’
in now for his kick up. Oh slow mo. – Slo mo. – Yeah! – Look at that! – I’ll tell ya what
he’s not messin’ around. That is a big jump off that little kicker. – Play that again. – Come on in he comes dunno what he’s
doin’ with that helmet. Oh he’s got a wooly hat on. – He’s cold. Whoa. – Look at that Fox kit on. How far do you think he jumps
in that jump right there? – Double his bike? – I mean it’s big innit? Let’s try and measure that. Right. That’s one bike length.
– One bike. – So he’s gonna go to there. Two bike lengths.
– Two bike lengths. – Okay to there. – Three bike lengths! – That’s three bike lengths. – Easily. – Three bike lengths. That is a big jump. – That’s a big jump for a little dude. – Little dude is doin’ big jumps. – He’s six years old is it? – Absolutely love that. – He quite– – Oh do I change my favorite? – He’s my favorite. – Ahhh. – Go ahead. – Okay next up Joseph on
another Carrera Vengeance. – There’s rocks I don’t like that. – Yeah the rocky rocks. – There’s rocks. You definitely have to
just send it on the rocks. – Trying to progress
with my technical riding and trying to gain some confidence. Alright so we got to
take this one serious. We got to take this one serious. ‘Cause gaining confidence is important and you know it’s hard. – Yeah. – Especially on stuff like rocks. Go on Joseph, go on. Yes, yes. Oh! – Oh. – Oh come on! – He’s got to turn on those rocks. That definitely will
send you off the thing. – Come on let’s see it. Let’s see it. You’ve got this. – He’s got it. – Come on next go. Here he goes. Go on. – Don’t put a foot down. – Don’t you stop! Go! Go! Yes! Oh a bit of show bowing at the bottom. Yeah whatever now I
can do endos and stuff. (whistling) – Yeah now I’ve done it and all that I’m puffin’ out my chest. – He went down that huge rock at the end. – Yeah I tell you what I didn’t realize how steep that last rock was gonna be. – How steep that rock was. – Let’s just have one
little glory run of that ’cause that’s nice. That’s a nice bit of riding. ‘Cause he’s got– – It’s like he’s doin’ a little jab. – He’s in two minds there I’m going. He sucked it oh I love that little bit of show bowing at the end. – Well done. – Joseph nice. – He sent it. – Nice bit of trials. Yeah sending it doesn’t have to be fast. – It doesn’t have to be fast. – Don’t have to be fast. – ‘Cause the slow– – Technical. – Ooo. – More Joseph! It’s not the same Joseph is it? – No he’s on a Cube. – We’ve got another Joseph. Controversial, two Josephs. – Yeah, different people. – Imagine if that happened
in the New Testament. That’d been tricky wouldn’t it? – Whoa yeah. – Yeah right. Okay Hadleigh Bike Park. I was training with my army cycling team when we came to the track. Leap of faith this is called. – Ohhh. – So I did a few roll ups
and then three lads came… Oh no. Cheered me on. One was wearing a white camo jersey and then he sent it! (laughs) – Sounds like he’s been called for drill. – Is that annoying when I do that? – No. – ‘Cause it’s a lot of fun to do. – It’s good. – Okay, alright I just wanted to check. – Sounds like he’s been called for drill. – Here we go. A GMBN jersey. – A GMBN jersey, red one! – Go on. Go on. Oh my god where’s he going?
– Where’s he going? – Whoa! Jesus! – I thought it just finished there. – I thought the first bit was it! – Yeah! – What the hell. That was crazy. It was like he was off the brakes. (laughs) – He’s bouncin’ all over is his saddle up? Let’s watch that again. – Oh my god that was sketchy. I don’t want to go down there again. – No saddles down. – He’s like I’m fine. I’m fine. And I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. (laughs) That’s like the top of a roller coaster. He’s like… Fair play that’s my new favorite. – Definitely– – My– – Definitely one of my– No. No I’m claiming Joseph. – Yeah well. – Joseph’s mine. – Joe’s six, three bike lengths. – Yeah, yeah. Alright I’m going with Joseph now because I think that
was a rollercoaster ride in every sense. – It was rollercoastery. – Okay, okay. So you’re now with Jay
and I’m now with Joseph. – Six year old. – Right. – It’s three bike lengths. – Yeah but this is GMBN top. This is GMBN top right here. Okay right. Matty now on his old Bayor Ralon. – Ooo. – Raylon? Old Bayor Raylon. This is in Scotland. – Ooo we don’t get much from Scotland. – Sent it on my first ever gap jump. – Where’s the gap? I can see a humongous chasm. A canyon. – Whoa he’s gonna be fast. – Oh he’s coming in. Where is he coming from? (screams) – Jesus Christ I wondered
where that was going. Nice! – Oh I thought he was gonna– – Hip! Hip! Look at that so there’s
like a step half way down that hill and then he comes into a hip. – That’s a cool place. – That’s a nice bit of ride there. Look at this gap here. And then hip. – Hip. – Well I tell you what. That was ballsy. That was ballsy. – Dave’s big send. – Up onto that corner. – Yeah. – Any advice Blake for
someone tryin’ to do a hip what would be do you
have any advice for that? – Relax and look at your landing. – Yeah, yeah. – You don’t want to stiff up
’cause you’ll just go straight. – Right next up we have
got Charlie Watkins on his Giant Glory in
Thredbo Mountain Bike Park in New South Wales Australia. – Not again. Yeah nice. – I’ve done the jump clean
a couple of times before but for some reason I
just went way too fast on this attempt. Well it sounds like
everything I want in life. – Sounds like fails and bails to me. – Here we go. – If he’s goin’ too fast. – C’mon Charlie. – Oh he’s flying. – He’s all in first jump. – First jump. (laughs) – Boom. That is massive. I think he just broke a world record. How big was that? – Charlie’s my favorite. – Look how high he is when you freeze it in the
middle where he’s like… At nine seconds you are how many feet? He’s 30 feet in the air. – Charlie’s my favorite. I’ve got watery eyes. Look how massive that is. – The landings below him by how far? That’s– – A story up. – At least a story high. Still easily six foot above
the taking but well past it. – Well past it. – Boom! – He just caught it. He just caught that landing. – Such a good job to hang
onto that bike ’cause– – I’ve got goosebumps. – Yeah thankfully there
was enough landing left to just carry the speed
out but dude you went… – This much. (laughs) – You know what he did he sent it!
– Sent it! – Amazing. – Charlie, my favorite. – Right okay. Next up. Joe. On his Norco Range in
Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. – Ooo. – Built a sketchy jump, couldn’t get enough
speed to clear it quickly even going as fast as I could. (laughs) I will enjoy your fail. Here we go. – What? – Here he goes well he says
he’s not gonna make it. Surely from that distance– – He’s flying down that road. – No. – Yes. – No. No. – He’s pedaling! – He’s going so fast. Oh god where is he going? (gasps) Ohhh. – Actually that was pretty
controlled on that horrible jump. – And it’s disgusting. Why did you even think
that was a good jump? – He was pedaling so hard. Press that again. – His hang time is… I’m gonna count while he’s in the air. There’s two to three seconds in the air. Look at him sprinting down this hill. – He’s sprinting down this hill. – He’s 100 meters away at this point. – And he goes through a little wet patch and get mud in his eye. – The run in’s disgusting. Okay here we go. One, two. It was nearly three seconds of hang time. He gets some serious pop
out of that grass bump. (laughs) – You see there’s a
bit of a G out right… Look at the G out there. – He jumps into the thing. He’s off the ground. There. He takes off into the take off. – I’m surprised his bike
doesn’t just go ka-bumpf and bottom out. – He’s fully bottomed out at that point. Somehow he muscles it through with… Look at that style. I’ll tell you what that– – Yeah he’s actually got some steez yeah. – Fair play. (laughs) Yes. – Do you know he’s like the Great Escape when he’s tryin’ to jump over the fence. – Yes. It is. – He sat there and then like– – I’ll tell you what Joe
that is an awkward jump fair play for taking it
on and some serious skills getting it across there. That is very nice. I just don’t know if I would’ve
spotted that one for you. Yup, ill go. I’m gonna send it. I don’t think for a moment, no. Right next up. I think I’m gonna make
that my new favorite. – I would say– – Joe. – Joe’s, yeah. – Joe’s my favorite. – Charlie’s mine. – So you’re sticking with Charlie. – For sure. – I’m with Joe ’cause I think that was
a pretty serious jump. Next up we’ve got Miguel
can he win our hearts on his 2015 Specialized Demo. – Close to being what 26, 24? – This is in Egypt Woods Jersey. I wonder if that is the
little island of Jersey. As in Jersey. You know near Guernsey. We’ve not had anything from Jersey. – We’ve not had anything from there. – No that’s very cool. Okay this used to just
be some random woods until a bunch of guys came together and started digging lines. That’s how it happens. This is one of our bravest riders Claudio clearing a 25 to 30 feet gap. Okay so the rider is Claudio. Here we go. – Here we go. – Claudio. – Come on Claudio. Where is he going? – Where is he comin’ from? – Oh my god. (gasps) – Whoa! God he actually just really
just sent that didn’t he? – Oh my god! Claudio manualed the landing. – He actually– – Manualed the landing. – And everyone’s running
after to see what he– – He can’t– – Oh my gosh. – Wow look at that landing. Look at him come in but look at that. He’s about to land… Just manuals the whole landing. – Just wanted to manual it. – And then super steezes I don’t think he even stopped. – There’s a jump down there. I don’t think he can stop. – He’s still going off in the distance. – Look at… (laughs) – Wow Claudio you’re
definitely a fast rider. You got away with that one. – You got– – You got away with murder
there but you sent it. – His brakes workin’. – You did send it. Fair play. Very good. Right next up we have got and this is our last
send this week or month. Last send of the month. This is Levi on his Transition Convert Douglas Mountain Reserve. 10 year old brother rode off
the big drop at the bike park. Okay so this is Levi showing
off his little brother. – 10. – 10 years old. This could steal us. This could steal us right at the finish. – Dunno, Charlie’s pretty sent it. – Here we go. Oh my god he’s tiny. Whoa!
– Whoa! He got a bit squirrely on the end there. – I have to take that one in again. Here we go. ‘Cause it drops there it’s a big drop. – And then he just goes… – Tell you what he’s not out of control when that’s gone wrong. – And it’s windy. – I like it. I like it but I don’t think
it’s quite enough for me. – Not me. – I think I’m gonna stick with Joseph. – I’m sticking with Charlie. – Okay right. So let’s take another look at Joseph. Here he goes he’s comin’ into
this roller and you can see– Look at the speed. He’s seriously committed at that point. – He is. – That’s definitely steeper than it looks. (laughs) Joseph that’s a good send. You fully sent it. – Well let’s take a look
at Charlie’s though. He’s pedaling in, he rails that turn, and then– – That is huge. – It goes a story or two in the air. – Ooo it’s big. – He out aired everyone. – I think he might have nabbed it. – Put everyone’s air
into one jump, he did. – Joseph’s is good but Joseph’s already got
a GMBN jersey for one. – Exactly. – And I think Charlie might have taken it. Charlie. – Yeah well done Charlie. (applause) – You are this month’s winner well done. You’ve won send of the month, you’ve won a GMBN jersey
