Sam Hill’s Custom Day Of The Dead Nukeproof Mega 275c | GMBN Pro Bike

– Right, it’s a pro-bike check of an extra special,
one-off, Nukeproof Mega, this is Sam Hill’s Enduro
World Series race bike. (energetic music) Standard Nukeproof Mega,
that carbonfiber frame, of course the one thing
that is completely one-off, is that paint job. So, it’s absolutely amazin’ up close, that proper black and white. It’s the Day of the Dead
theme, that Mexican festival, so, that comes from Sam’s tattoos
on the back of his calves. We’ve got lots of ones and threes and thirteens all over this, we also got some cool, like,
caricatures of Sam, his wife and his three boys on the back. Super cool, the detail on
this is absolutely amazin’. And that sort of black,
stealthy theme continues on the rest of the bike. Got this RockShox Super
Deluxe on the bike. I’m actually told it’s a one-off, it looks like a different
shape to the normal one. We’ve got a RockShox Lyrik up front, 180 mil fork on the front. Got a Sam Hill Signature
cockpit, that 50 mil Horizon Stem and the bars are 750, so relatively narrow by today’s standards. We’ve got some one-off
components on the front, we’ve got that multi-tool,
that slides down and into that steerer
tube, so it’s a multi-tool and a Co2 cartridge,
in case Sam punctures. Also got that spacer, but it’s got a Garmin
mount on there as well, it runs that tiny Garmin,
just to keep track of time and distance, so he knows if he’s on
time for the next stage. Sam’s showin’ his
support for fellow Aussie and his old teammate
actually Jared Graves. He’s got a Strength for Jared sticker and the 53 there and
another one back there on the swingarm as well, super cool. Some more of the Signature
bits, it’s got those Nukeproof grips with the signature
right on the very end of them. Those AVS hand guards, we’ve sort of got used to seeing Sam run, again in those Day of the Dead sort of custom stickers on there. SRAM code RSC brakes are
the big downhill brake, we’ve got 200 mil up front
and 200 mil on the rear for those roadsters,
so big stopping power. Bike looks immaculate but I think any bike is always improved by a lovely number one plate on the front. The wheels, we’ve got the
MAVIC DEEMAX brand new ones, they’ve got 30 mil width, also got some custom
painted hubs on there. So again, super glossy, nice and black, really suits the rest of the bike. Sam’s been runnin’ these
MICHELIN DH22s tires all year, to great success obviously. First time I’ve seen ’em actually up-close and they’re super
aggressive looking tires. Really deep knobs on there, they look almost like, you
know, five or six mil tall and the compound is super soft. Race day tomorrow and, of course, a brand new fresh set on there. Full SRAM drivetrain on this bike, so we’ve got the XO rear mech shifter, 1×12 runnin’ that Eagle cassette on there, so that a 10-50 big cassette. Got the carbon XO cranks on there, Sam was always notorious for
runnin’ really short cranks in the downhill days and
again, these are 165s so, got plenty of clearance to try and pedal through those
rough gnarly sections. Some Nukeproof Horizon Sam
Hill Signature pedals on there. Check out the length of those pins. These pedals come as standard with two washers behind that bolthead, so Jacy, Sam’s mechanic, takes ’em out and they stick out massively. I’d imagine with those Five Ten shoes and those pins you’ve got
a crazy amount of grip. Of course, that wide-narrow
chainring’s a 32 so plenty low gearin’, especially here, you have got some really serious climbs you’ve gotta winch yourself up. So definitely need that
smaller chain ring. Got that MRP top guide as well, just to make sure
everythin’ stays on there. Got the RockShox Reverb drop
post in that longest version and got that lever underneath
the bar on the left hand side which matches the shifter on the right. Sam also runs his brakes Moto
style like we do in the UK. I think most Aussies do as well, so right hand is the front
brake, left is back brake. Lovely lookin’ bike, if you
wanna see some more of it, if you wanna see Sam Hill teach us how to take the inside line, when he shows Blake just how he corners, click over there for that one. If you wanna see the
bike, the high road here and either of us click
over there for that one. Thumbs up if you like
the look of this bike. Don’t forget to hit that sub button.
