Road Bike Tips | Changing Riding Position Could Mean More Power | Cycling VLOG

So I’ve been kind of doing different
kinds of writing if you will lately but the kind of writing that we’re doing
right now Susan and I is basically just writing we’re not going anywhere special
we’re just getting out and enjoying the day enjoying our bikes it’s not a
workout it’s not an endurance ride it’s just kind of our basic route so when I’m
writing like this I’m writing in a fairly relaxed position my hands are on
the hoods and I might even roll the grip in the hoods
I’m just arresting my palms on the hoods and making sure that I have my sit bones
plant it on the seat in the correct position I’m also not paying a lot of attention
to things like average speed or cadence much less amount of power and I’m putting out another particular
type important time so you know just enjoying the ride where are we so often
on rides like this I’ll get to a flat peaceful Road where I’m going to where I
start to practice being a little more aggressive if you only my writing
putting in a little more effort and what I’ve been doing lately is changing my
hand position grabbing the top of the hoods like this little teaming over a
little bit more making myself a bit more Aero bending my elbows just a little bit not quite having my forearms horizontal
to the ground but definitely much more error again positioning my sit bones
where they belong on the seat and when I do this my main focus is how my pedals
feel how am i pedaling feels what my legs feel like are my legs push it down
but feel the power and the strength of my pedaling is it a smooth power or am I just
pushing so hard that it tells me that I probably should be in a different gear I don’t do much of this although I want
to do more of it primarily because I’m writing it Susan and when I started
doing this I know my average speed starts to tick up 17 18 miles an hour
and with the ebike she can keep up at bay but I also don’t want her to burn up
the battery trying to catch me yeah we’re just supposed to be off for a
nice ride but I’ve been experimenting with that position lately on segments
that I write together and I really seize the advantage of getting into kind of a
tough position and focusing in concentrating in just how much effort
I’m putting into my petals it’s really a good feeling because you
feel yourself becoming much more efficient and being able to carry that
kind of power a little bit longer and your ride helping you build power
helping you build your strength but more importantly to make is to increase
endurance I’m always interesting interested in
being able to get into longer rides so look once again I’m reinforcing some
basics in terms of my writing style my writing habits and at least for me in terms of being
able to write further writing longer a lot of it has to do with just plain
being comfortable on the bike you know if your ass is killing you your legs are
killing you after only writing ten miles you definitely start doing something
wrong but I like this position a lot I like
grabbing on to the hoods and lowering myself down a little bit and just
pedaling with my lower body my body nice and quiet it’s a good feeling I’m gonna
stop here and Susan I are gonna talk about which direction we’re gonna head
next you
