everyone I’m bill I’m with cali moto TV
today is a special day for me I’m taking delivery today of my 2015 BMW s1000rr
I’m just kidding I actually took today delivery of my new
2020 BMW s1000rr now as some of you guys know I put a deposit down on this back
in October and I have been waiting for this day ever since today I went to the
dealership I picked it up I’m super excited to get some miles on this thing
so me a vodka we’re geared up we’re gonna take you on the first ride on my
2020 BMW s1000 we’re gonna get some miles on this bike because this the the
rev limiter is put on this for the first 600 miles so I want to get this 600
miles done with so I can get the rev limiter off here and we can really show
you what this bike is all about so let’s get on these bikes I’ll show you a
little bit about them and we’ll get out on the road alright everyone so we made
our way up to Lake Berryessa as you guys know this is our backyard so we speared
you with the boring ride up through the farmland but we are here
Bogg knows what’s up guys on the 2015 s1000rr i’m on the 2020 s1000rr just
take it in for a second guys so right now up here I played a little bit with
the menus we’ll play with them a little bit on the twisties I’ll explain some
things one of the things I didn’t do my homework I was so excited
so don’t crew me too hard on this I was so excited to get on the bike I didn’t
read the manual I don’t know how to change the suspension setting I would
have liked have been able to change the suspension setting but I don’t know how
she said is in the manual I was like I don’t know let’s just go so I watched
650 EOBs video the other day and he said the only thing he could find that
resembled or that was the same part from this bike to this bike was a gas cap and
sure enough but 650b I found a second part
and that is let’s see if I can get down here
that is our steering damper is the same but they’ve moved it opposite side so
I’m gonna get in here turn this up a little bit because I like
my dampers a little bit a little bit tighter there we go
all right so let’s do the initial startup on this thing now I did drop the
tyre pressures the rear tire pressure from the dealership was 45 psi the front
tire pressures were 42 anyways I dropped him I think we’re 28 28 or
something like that but because again I didn’t read the manual the first thing
it does is it gives me an error message beautifully TFT display gives me the
tire pressure not at set point stop immediately and check tire pressure now
it obviously now it’s in red so we’re gonna hit the back button which we go
back which will take me into the rear and back again now that red lights gonna
continue to flash because I don’t know how to turn it off because when we go
into the menu I’m just gonna real quick go into the menu button into my
vehicle’s you can see here that my tire pressures in the rear are twenty six
point three twenty seven point eight in the front now I’m going to be riding
somewhat aggressive so I figured I’d be getting some heat in the tires but the
lights gonna flash but let’s get back into the main display let’s go for a
ride we’re gonna talk about the display on another ride so let’s get this thing
fired up and bargain is gonna fire up come on Tom
finding neutral find me another one oh forget to get
some exhaust on this mark tuberose exhaust the exhaust is a bit
complicating on this machine so alright let’s get out here so a full system I
think Akrapovic has a full system I don’t want an Akrapovic system I don’t
want to be like everyone else so I am gonna wait so you can see the
lights flashing of course it’s got the rev limiter so it is rev limiting out at
9,000 rpms top trees about 125 miles an hour before
you hit that rev limiter so on the way over here I was talking
about now and the feel of the bike with this this bike
I feel like I’m at home the the feel of this bike I don’t feel
like I’m on any new bike I told her at one point I had to look down to realize
that I was on the new bike I feel very very very at home on this bike the way
it fits the way my legs fit just the ergonomics of everything the bike feels
very very good as far as the handling now upright it
just just feels as normal but when we get into the turns I could definitely
feel that they turn the bike turns pretty quick they can see the nice rev limiter the war the ship light comes
on a little bit early but we can adjust all of this once I find
the menu that I can make all of these adjustments now we have found our way
into race mode I did want to play with that actually you know I’m gonna go back
to dynamic mode just because I’m up here on the mountain roads it’s my first time
up here but I found the difference between the dynamic mode pulling the
clutch I’m assuming yep the difference between the dynamic mode
and the race mode the throttle response was so much different so it’s I feel very at home
you guys may have seen yesterday I release the BMW V for our review
and I felt so off on that bike I didn’t feel comfortable on that bike first it
was a $45,000 bike second just to ergonomics of that Ducati I just didn’t
like and I got on this for the very first time we’re 37 miles I left the
house with 18 miles on the bike so we put about 20 less just under 20
miles from the house to hear back farm roads so I kind of went through the
gears I went through the revs kind of did a little Motoman break-in on the
motor but I’m mom I just feel so comfortable
on this bike there’s just something about the ergonomics of the BMW that I
absolutely love now comfort wise for you guys that
really love that cushy BMW seat it’s gone it’s we’re sitting on a cinder
block now so don’t expect to have that cushy seat
that we’re used to it’s not uncomfortable it’s not an r1 seat but
it’s definitely not a BMW seat this is the M package obviously so it
does have the M package seat but it’s not comfortable but butts a little hot
already or heated from the hardness guys I’m absolutely selling love right
now maybe get out of the road people you see

so and it’s just it’s it’s just the feel of
this is so absolutely crazy I love it I love it I love it let’s talk
about things that I always talk about I always complain about and yell about
speech shifter I love it BMW OnPoint as always one of the
differences between the 15 and the 20 20 is the 15s got a little bit of a clique
to it this one the clique is gone it’s more of a it’s more of a soft a soft
touch button so if you know if you touch a old-school button there’s that click
click and you hit the newer buttons it’s got that soft touch click to it
so let’s teleport through here yeah so the feel of the the speed shifter is is
on point I love it thank you BMW guys did a fine job I did two mods to the
bike already we are in GP shift mode which was pretty sweet it was one volt
we moved it from one side to the other no additional programming or anything we
simply move the shift rod from the back to the front
in as always iris move the rear passenger pace so we’ve got our first
two months a little baby should I have left them on
do you want to chew up do it to a vital so I’m right on
and shut myself up for that I thought she was gonna say no because the seat is
no bigger than my hand so the UM so you know I can’t and I can’t give me
any judgment on performance compared to the to the 15 because you know the rev
limiter is on here but I can tell you that low-end grunt is
not there I don’t have any it’s I mean I’m wide open right there I’m in 3rd 6000 rpms so I know there’s been a lot of talk
about this exhaust system and once this exhaust system is gone the potential
that this bike has is gonna be absolutely crazy dyno numbers that I’ve
seen 192 650 Eve just I note his at 192 wheel horsepower he also died note his
RS v4 1100 factory also at 192 horsepower and because his v4 r is
modded he did dyno a stock v4 r came in at a 184 so little disappointing on the n-number
this was all of the same day at the same tire pressure on the same dyno so that
was a very fair comparison thanks 650 for that that was a great
watts so I want to get the miles on this cuz I
can’t wait to ride this thing and my buddies and my friends that know me from
my first 3 s 1000s know how much I absolutely cursed this bike with this
rev limiter I hate this revel in ER now I was lucky enough if you guys haven’t
seen my delivery of my 2010 10 years ago I took delivery of the very first
s1000rr and I had no rev limiter and so I didn’t know what it was like I
proceeded to rap that out in let’s see that was the first one that was my
helicopter ride out of Point Reyes station so when I got the second one
I had the rev limiter on it and I cursed the hell out of that thing so I switched it over into race mode
right now and so you do not have to pull in the clutch you just have to release
the throttle to get into the next mode so so you’ll notice that another thing
that’s much different although I do have the MRA double-bubble windscreen on the
15 there’s that rev limiter so I do have the double bubble
windscreen but I think even stock windscreen to the 15 – this one look how
low this windscreen is it’s super low so I’ll be looking for the MRA
doublebubble windscreen when it comes out but I think even stock factory to
factory this is a much lower windscreen the TFT display let’s talk about that
because I’m absolutely in love with the TFT display I couldn’t wait for this to
be able to see this in person a six point five inch TFT display with menus
once you configure amount Ford gaze and adjustability for days but right now in simple street mode if
we go to our menu button over here on the left and you see up at the top we’ll
scroll through our top kind of menu button which we’ve got you know hours of
use average I’m not sure what the coffee cup is I guess it says that I’ve got to
get coffee at 7:56 average speed average file per hour your
tire pressure so the the TPS is very nice pretty accurate as you can see it’s
given me a read that says hey your your your pressures are set really low I
think this might be something that’s gonna have to be set by the dealer
because I do set my tire pressures kind of low and I think these are race texts so and
probably bump up those tire pressures to 30 for the next ride and then continuing up through the menu
we’ve got our miles to to empty and we have a proper fuel gauge this time guys
a proper fuel gauge and then back to our miles so a very
nice quick scroll through the top menu very very nice of course we have our
linear TECA meter which we stopped at 9,000 rpms
red line once the 600-mile service is done will be at 13 8 I believe is the
total red line because we have our nice gear indicator over here and then up to
the left we have our speed so I plan on doing a fool once I read up
on it at full TFT display video to walk you through all of the options on the

BMW s1000rr stream ride virgin up Terry she’s never before written in ridded
plenty of times on the street commuting to work she’s written it many times on
the track but we’ve never been up to the canyons and never met up in the
mountains where she’s written that now I’ve offered it to her a couple times
and I’ve offered to switch her riding with the MTO nine how many times have I
written the MTO nine on the street babe yeah but that thing I love it on the truck so
I won’t complain so I won’t go too much into it but so the
buying the deposit process I was a little disappointed a couple a week and
a half ago to find out that there was a deposit ahead of mine I was lucky enough
to score this one nobody had a deposit on this one so I
was was able to locate this and purchase this one today
if you guys are watching this call some dealerships if you’ve got deposits on a
bike in a big dealership in a big city that they have four or five deposits I
would highly recommend you go on your map and find the most rural
BMW dealership give them a call because the dealership that I purchased
this from I’d called them last night and they had just received it in and they
haven’t had anybody put a deposit on it I was there at open this morning and
purchased it so if you guys have been looking for one
of these call some of these rural dealerships because my understanding is
every BMW s1000 or every dealership has received one M package
BMW s1000 or they are receiving I love it cruise controls on are they
that nice 86 miles an hour I mean 55 miles an hour so that’s nice when you turn the turn
the cruise control off it gives you a reminder what it’s setup so of course
you can pull it back and it will resume your setup
of course flip it off we have three levels that are on our
heated handgrips I won’t be using those anytime soon but there’s three levels now instead of
two levels from the old version and then our mode button so in the 15 we had four
modes you had a you had a rain mode a road mode a race
mode and a SLIC mode they’ve slightly changed their modes now
and they read as you can see down there rain Road dynamic and race because of
course this is the M package basically the slick mode has been pre-installed
essentially but the slick mode is very adjustable or the race mode is
adjustable so we’ll get into those adjustments at some point on a future
video yeah I’m really really enjoying it it’s
it’s really every expectation in every every mark that I had that I wanted has
been checked and here’s our 2015 hello lovely you know the dynamic suspension were we
had the regular suspension on the other ones and I didn’t mind it I said you know
it’s all set up to the really kind of a track mode so I didn’t mind I didn’t
mind it I basically had it set for trot and I kind of left it beat this one will
be nice because there are some times that obviously I’m going to be riding on
the street with this bike because this will now be my street bike it would be
nice to be able to adjust this and soften it up a little bit for the street
instead of just full-on hard one of the interesting things that we did discover
when we got on the bike initially when I loaded it out of the truck partner got
on it and it is actually significantly higher than the 2015 so I barely got it
out of the truck and Barneses gonna sit on it and hops on it and picks it up and
she’s on her tiptoes so the seat height is although by spec I
think it’s only an inch or so right yeah but well but the the 20/20 is
supposed to be narrower in the legs I don’t know I’d have to get them on
side by side I I don’t notice that I feel that and I guess it might late just
hit really good in this and and they fit really well in the tank
curves so it’s comfortable so I enjoy it but when I got on the bike I was like
wow this is very hard the suspension was like a rock the bike didn’t move when I
sat on it and I turned the key on
and the suspension started being cushy so I think that there’s some setting
that BMW have when you turn it off it if the suspension hardens up not sure why
maybe for transport so I I really do want to get into the
suspension settings so I think we’ll do that when
when we get the service the 600-mile service done to apologize for the Sun in our eyes we will be able to get back into the
tree cover here soon but it’s just a lovely bike I mean it’s
if like I said earlier if you guys are an S 1000 owner and you’re like in its just it’s just so much there’s
just it just feels perfect you’re you’re inhaling trust me you’ll be at home now
I did performance-wise and everything we got to get this Revell emitter off and
we’ve got to get into the suspension settings and we have to make some
changes but what when that happens this is this bike is going to be a WoW
so I can’t wait now oh the brakes I want to talk about
the brakes because they have completely changed from a Brembo brake
system they still do have the Nissin brake
master which historically had the nests and stuff on the gxr stuff
my o7 wasn’t that great it’s been replaced with the Brembo master
but a lot of people complained about the 2015 and above brakes I didn’t mind them
at all now a lot of people complained about the brake fade once they got hot
okay I’ll give you that they’ve switched to the haze breaks the
haze in the front and steel braided lines which I think the other ones had
steel braided lines as well about 2015 I believe as steel braided lines but we’ve
got a very quick break up front they they claim that it’s more progressive
feel like it’s not an initial like fight but if I grab break I don’t know I again
it’d have to be a side by side thing but the breaks are great in this
you know the breaks are very good I don’t feel like it’s a major change
it’s not like Oh BMW change the brakes massively on it I think it’s a good
thing we’ll see how it is on the on the track because that’s when these these
brakes are supposed to perform much different than the 2015 because of 2015
the brakes do fade out a little bit when they get hot these are not supposed to
so we will be testing those out the levers kind of decent at least they’re
not silver black anodized levers I am hoping that ASV will have some levers
because I do love the ASV levers that I have on my 2015 I just I it’s it’s so crazy
I’m so comfortable on this bike already alright let’s kick it up a notch so don’t have tank grips so I do like my
tank rips I highly recommend them my inner thighs sliding around a little bit
so I will be getting the tank ripped soon of course you can see the rpm lights already flashing at me and I
just found stopped the rev limiter there this fight feels so perfect son of my heart sorry about that
for the son guys oh yeah and so let’s also talk about the carbon
wheels I’ve ridden carbon wheels once before
on an older GSXR bike and it turned like crazy and that was like depicting about
car wheels so light turns on crazy I mean the bike turns well
but it’s not like it just falls over very smooth in the top of the bike is very
lightweight very light so grabbing this thing and just moving just side to side
is very nice now the rear sets are a little bit lower
than I like I do tend to like my rear sets a tad higher my right heel is resting on the exhaust
and we’re size 12 boot so I tend to get that a lot if you look if you look if you ever seen
the s1000 of the 15 you’ll notice that the rear pipes dented a little bit where
I’ve kind of had a little bit too much weight on my rear so but the legs they
feel really really nice and I’m gonna like I’m gonna like some some some some
stomp grips on here I’m really enjoying my stomp grips now my back in the suit
has a fabric inner so what’s nice about this suit is the inner doesn’t get worn
down the leather doesn’t get worn down like the like my Alpine star did did
wear down a little bit wait for bargaining to catch up I took off a
little bit hello baby sorry I can’t ride with you
talking and breaking up I kind of took off a little bit babe
this bike man it feels so wonderful a little bit of suspension move right
there so that was second gear and I really interesting interesting throttle feel
because there wasn’t it wasn’t much much there so I hope you guys are enjoying this so

so we can’t take the tail off because we have to relook we have to relocate these
so you’re gonna have a diaper front got the diaper for a couple days some
