How to unbox your Gi Fly Bike

How to unbox your Gi Fly Bike

Hello, my name is Agustin and today I’m
going to show you how to assemble your Gi Fly Bike when you first get your Gi
Fly box… If you have any plastic straps around the box you can remove them with a box cutter, pliers, or scissors or you can even slide them from the box. The next step is to
remove the plastic handles, which is super easy and we provide the instructions on the plastic… you have to first pull here and then remove the complete plastic
handle. Do this on both sides of the bike. Once both handles
are off you can remove the top part of the box. Remember, you have arrows around the box that tell you which part is up and which part should go down. It is super easy, you just slide it up and that’s all. Now you still have an intermediate piece of cardboard. Little by little, you can pull it up. Now you have access to your Gi Fly for the first time. In the intermediate cover piece, you have all
the instructions for the steps that follow. We just have to now repeat those instructions. OK, first step, we need to remove all the spare parts
that you have inside the box. First, is the seat with the seat tube and the rear
mud guard. We can set them aside. Then you have your cell phone support box, your
tool box, and here you will find your Gi Fly charger. Last, you have your
reflectors box. There is one more piece, which is the rear light support, that is
inside the box, but it’s not accessible right now. You can either remove the bike
from the box as shown in the instructions or you can take a box cutter and just open the box and
use the same cardboard to hold your bike, and prevent it from receiving any
scratches or problems. Now that we have access, we can remove
the rear light support and set it aside. The next step is to remove all the bubble
wrap from the bike. Then we can remove the piece of cardboard that protects
the motor and the front fork. Now continue removing the bubble wrap. For
the first time you can have a look at your new Gi Fly Bike. We need to install the
rear seat onto the bike so we can stand it up and continue with the assembly. For
this step, you need to move the bike but please don’t pull it from the handlebars as
the handlebars are not attached to the bike right now. If you pull from the handlebars, you will pull the wires and you can damage your bike. So we set that aside, and by just turning the bike we have access to the seat tube. We can remove the foam protection and then proceed to unwrap the seat and the seat tube. Here you have
the seat, the seat tube, the rear mud guard, and, of course, the seat clamp. First, we
need to put the seat tube clamp in place. If you have any doubts on how to do this, you have the instructions in here. Then, we can insert the seat tube into the bike. Once you have it properly inside, you don’t need to adjust it
right now to the proper height… This is just in place to be able to stand the
bike and continue working on it. Once it is inside, you can close the clamp,
be sure it’s secure, and continue removing the next piece of foam. This is
easy. You need to be sure the locking handle of the bike is open, then you can try to
unfold the bike a bit, and just simply pull and you will remove the other piece
of foam. Now we can stand the bike. Standing the bike is super easy, just
grab it from the tank, near the stem the front of the bike, and pull it up! Once
it’s vertical it should stay stable between the seat and the two tires and
you don’t need to hold it with anything else. For the next step we need tools so we need to go to the tool box. Inside the tool box, you
will find the pedals, the pedals’ wrench, and the main tool (three-ended allan wrench) you will use. Sorry about that sound! We have to check
that the stem is pointing forward. This means that it has to be in the same direction as the front wheel. Also, we can check that the screws of the stem are properly
tightened. If you have any doubts about how tight they have to be, you can check the
Gi Fly user manual where we have all the measurements and instructions on
how to do it properly. Now we will need the front piece of the stem and the four
screws that go on the stem. These screws are located on the
handlebars inside the bag so you cannot miss them or find some screws that are
not correct. The screws that you find on the front handlebars are the ones
that you have to use on the stem. OK I moved the bike just to show you
the next step… Just take the handlebars, place them, then take the clamp, you put it in place, and with one of the screws you can hold it
in position. Again, it’s not difficult and don’t take too much care right now with
the actual position and with fine-tuning the riding experience of the bike… You
are going to do that after you finish assembling everything. First, we get everything in place, then we will take care of having a smooth ride.
OK, we are halfway there, we have just to continue. Now, next step
is to put on the rear light support. This is super easy. You will need the
assembly tool, you will need the two screws, which will be found inside
the packaging that protects the paint of the light support. Of course, you will need the light support. Please keep everything on hand, because you will need
both hands available. First, we connect the electric wire, taking care that
red goes with red and black goes with black, not the other way around.
Once it is connected, we can tuck it up into the hole in the rear light support. Once
we place it over the frame and see the holes of the light support aligned, we can proceed by putting in the screws. We can just screw the first one until it
feels tight and then we can release it and go for the second one, also secure it in place. OK, now the last step is super easy, we
just need to put the cell phone support onto the bike. For that, we needed to remove the cap that was already in the bike just
to secure the stem in place. You unscrew and remove the cap, then you put the support in the same place and then with the same screw, you can screw it in place. You can follow the instructions on the box it’s super easy, just one screw, and
everything is done. Then you have the finger tight nuts… These are the ones that
will let you regulate the position of your phone and put it and take it out of
the holder securely. Finally, to finish the assembly process, we can proceed by assembling the pedals. You will need the two pedals, and the
pedal assembly tool – now be careful the pedals are marked as left and right.
Which one is left? Which one is right? Just think like you are riding the bike,
your right is the right pedal your left is the left pedal. The pedals have
different threads. One has right-handed threads the other one has left-handed
threads, but how do you know which one you have to rotate which way? It’s easy,
you have to think like you’re pedaling… every time you are pedaling you are
tightening the pedals into place, so if it’s going to rotate the way you put
it in place. Rotate it the same way it should rotate while you are pedaling. You can put in almost the entire thread just by hand, it’s not very difficult. Once it’s tightened,
you can locate the wrench with the number 15 opening and use that to
finish tightening the pedals. Super easy. Let’s go to the other side. Here we are on the left side, so we take the left pedal and again, thinking like
we are pedaling on the bike, we’ll make it rotate untill we have it in place and that’s all! You have a fully assembled
Gi Fly Bike! Now the last step would be to unfold your Gi Fly Bike for the first time.
As you may know from our tutorial videos we have an expert and a beginner way of
unfolding the bike. Of course, you are going to use the beginner version for your first time. So first step we make sure that the handle is open, if it’s not you can open
it by yourself, next step we squish the rear brake, we will then rotate the handlebar to your right about 45 degrees, and then you just move forward with the bike.
Then your Gi Fly is unfolded! She really looks awesome doesn’t she? You can activate your Gi Fly. For that you first need to turn the Gi FIy on by
pushing the button under the frame. Then follow the instructions on
the mobile app. Next step is to scan the QR code, which is located under the bottom bracket of the bike. Now you are almost ready, but before any ride
make sure you have the handle properly secured. Read the complete user manual
and then… enjoy commuting!
