How to Replace a Washing Machine Heater (Candy or Hoover)

Hi I’m Mat from eSpares, in this video
I’ll be showing you how to change a heater on a Candy or Hoover washing
machine. If you all heater has failed on your washing machine
you’l either noticed that the washing cycle doesn’t finish or you’ll notice in E16 error code on the digital display. Safety first always unplug an appliance
before carrying out any work. The next thing I need to do is to remove the back panel
by undoing these six nuts at the back. With the back panel removed
the heater is at the bottom. So now what we need to do is
to remove the electrical connections. There are quite a few it can be a good idea to take
a photograph of the electrical connections. So when your new heater is finished
you can put them back in exactly the way that you found them. It might also be useful to use a flat headed
screwdriver to help release the clips. We now need to remove the nut on the
shaft here but until the end of the shaft. And then using the box driver
place that on the end of the shaft give it a strike. That should release the clamp
which then will release the heater. With the clamp released i am now going to use
a flathead screwdriver just to leaver out the heater being very careful as I do so not to damage
any of the machine. Before putting in the new heater into the
washing machine its worth pointing out how much lime scale is on the old heater here
which may be the reason for its failure. If you have a similar amounts of lime scale
in your machine you can see how best to deal with that in a separate eSpares video
called how to cure a smelly washing machine. So before I put the new heater
in to the drum I’m just going to lubricate the rubber seal with some washing up liquid
we should just help it slip in nice and easily. Make sure it lines up with the clamp
inside the drum and it should slip in like so. You can then re tighten the bolt and
reconnect the electrical connectors. With the bolt firmly on the shaft
and the electrical connectors all reconnected I can now refit the back panel. So there we have it , one new heater
fitted to this washing machine. Spares and accessories for washing machines
as well as all other appliances can be found on the eSpares website. Thanks for watching.
