– Right, the manuals
are a great tool to have in your arsenal. Bar jumpin’ or bunny hoppin’. The manual can help you
out in sticky situations. Even make you faster out on the trail. Here are a few of my top examples of where to use the
manual out on the trail. Woohoo, pedalin’! (rock music) Wow, I’m soaked! Ugh, a puddle! Right, here’s a tip. Manualing through a
puddle can keep your face and grill fresh. Cause all that spray’s gonna
come off that front wheel if you go two wheels through it and you’re gonna get caked in mud. Manualing through it is
gonna keep this fresh. Manual! Oh this is a big one for manualing! Alright, this obstacle right here, riding over it with the
hitting of your front wheel’s gonna be a little bit uncomfortable and maybe send you over the bars. So this is a perfect situation where the manual technic or a little pedal wheely to get you over this obstacle, is gonna be the best option. So the secret to this one
is spotting that obstacle a little bit early on the trail. Give yourself enough speed, knowing that your gonna
do a manual over this, and basically just manual over. Get your front wheel over, drag your back wheel over through it. Right, when it comes to
a drop such as this one, the manual technic is the perfect option. Cause if you’re just riding over it, you’re gonna loose your front wheel or your weights gonna shift forward and it’s gonna send you nose heavy or the dreaded OTB. Over the bars. And that’s never a good thing. But the super basic technic is getting your front wheel up just before the drop, matching it, and you’ve got
your come down two wheels. Right, the slightly more advanced approach to the manualing off a drop is, manualing in and off the drop. That’s cool, more exhilarating, and fun. My little pro tip here, when your front wheel starts to dive, just before you’re coming off the drop, that’s gonna end in a bit of a situation. So little pro tip here is stop, hit the brake, get
your front wheel down just before you’re gonna go off the drop or this is the only time
I say pedal in a manual. It’s gonna save your bacon. Just gotta watch out,
when you’re manualing in and off this drop, you’re probably coming
in a bit back wheel heavy instead of two wheels. So just hover over your back brake just to stop you from looping out. You don’t want to do that. Right, moving on from
the manual drop technic. This obstacle right here on the trail, same similar thing, but you want to have the front wheel a little bit higher than you would because if you were
just to come in normal, normal manual, that there is gonna
buck you over the bars. So what you want to do, is come in a bit of a bigger manual, let that bump buck you but it’s gonna buck you just enough to level out your bike so you
can land two wheels first. Right, this little bit of trail here is not so so rough but
it is a little bit rough with roots and drops and
rocks and bits and pieces. So the manual is gonna help you. It’s gonna benefit you on
this little bit of trail. Where as if you’re going
through it with two wheels, your front wheel’s
trying to push you back. Where as back wheel, you’re
driving it all the way through soaking of the rear of your bike and it’s gonna help you through this trail a little bit more smoother. Rollers is a great place to
bring in the manual skills. Having the front wheel up
and getting the back wheel to match the roller, can help you increase your speed and get through some obstacles smoother. But when the rollers get
really close together and you can’t– and your front and back wheel
are trying to get through you’re gonna loose speed, having the front wheel up and getting the back
wheel to do all the work, you can pump and generate more speed to get through the trail, and you can get through smoother. (gravel crunching) (brakes squeak) Next tip is manualing
anywhere and everywhere and whatever you can do with the manual, but if you’ve watched this
video and you have no clue on how to manual, then click just up here on how to manual. Oh and if you wanna know on how to ride a trail really fun, click just down there. And click on this little logo right here, and you won’t miss another
video just like this one. And don’t forget to leave
your comments down below, and give us a thumbs up like.
Got the "L" shape, can get the front up but then then doh! Are you pushing forward with your feet? come on guys, a super slow mo would be amazing. Help us master this illusive puzzle👊
Been trying to nail this for a while and can only do a short manual. I bunnyhop much of the log/drop options you mentioned here as a sort of pre-hop thingy. Is this slower?
first
I would actually prefer to learn how to use the manual on the trail from the actual manual champion (Neil)
sorry Blake…
here before 709
blake ive kind of got manualing but just can't keep my self up I either fly off the back of the bike or the nose dips have you got any advise?
This video should be called "Where To Manual…" — It doesn't teach you how
none of this is a manual because he is using his back break
You could just use a simple bunny hop
Hey i'm from germany an like your Videos very much 😀
Could you make a video where one of you try biketrails with "normal bikes", i mean no rear wheel suspension^^

#askGMBN We need a pro-bike-check on Blakes Scott 😁👌🏻
Ok I know where to manual – now I have to learn how to manual…
So basically manual the entire trail LOL. Seriously though, great vid, really helpful.
How to do a manual on a trail: Do a manual on a trail.
Thing i learned from this video – Always do manual.
I should really learn this. I wonder how much the learning will hurt 😀
Acting like your the man now neils not around… we all know who the real manual king is
so basically manual everywhere
I agree😂🚲
what I want to know is,,, do you use the rear brake to control the manual too or just the loop out ,?

One of Blake's best videos so far. keep it going!
Just remove the front wheel – it's for total losers.
2:58 well this little bit of trail here is not so rough, but it is a little bit rough with roots, and drops, and rocks, and crocodiles, and bits of pieces. Just use manual. Easy.
where is this
#AskGMBN I have borderline studied religiously the How To Manual video and I know the exact technique to manual, but my weight never goes past the balance point because I'm only 5'2 and ride a 29er, so I can never hold the manual as I'm never actually 'manualing' just keeping the front wheel up with the force I use to get it up; like throwing a ball up and then it just falls down the same way. Is there anything I can do? I have a 70mm stem but I don't think that reducing it by 30mm will have much effect and might even have a bad effect on my pedalling position.
I can get the wheel up, but I can't balance the manual. I have the same problem with wheelies.
Good tips for manualing, but on a few of those the bunny hop would seem to definitely be the preferred technique versus banging the rear tire into the obstacle. Blake? The log and root would just be a really small bunny hop even at low speed, and save the rear wheel from any potential damage.
Great vid Sir. I don't know why, but every time I see someone on the trail manualing I think abut Phil Atwill. Cheers Phil!
Where are your clips pedals Blake?????
Blake i dont understand this, your explanations is so weird that they make sense… Great job
Blake and Neil should start a spin off channel, Global Unicycle Network 😋
Hey guys, do you have some experience with pro downhillers if they are ok with giving autographs? I'm going to see wc dh and I would like to get some but I'm a bit nervous about it. (I know – stupid question)
Maybe I'll set aside an hour each weekend to learning the manual 🙂
why don't you go around the water
Can you guys do a vid on using cheap bikes to shoe you can still be good with a crap bike
cannondale trail 3 is it a good bike for begginer?
Please can you guys do a how to nose bonk video
The color scheme on that bike is pure sex. What model Scott is that?
If there's anything gmbn have taught me, it's the difference between a wheelie and a manual
I fell on my ass really hard this midday. It still hurts fucking hard when I sit on it, but Il do that jump tomorrow again! It's finished when I did it clean asf.
Nice tips Blake, you make it all look so easy. Never a bmxer, It seems like I have lots of practicing to do. Keep the tips rolling
santa cruz
I can't do it, no matter how hard I try. Like it seems impossible, I don't see any way I could do it
Shouldn't Neil be showing us this after the whitewash you got the other day beefcake 😂😂
Holding a manual has to be the hardest fundamental bike skill
Is this in Santa Cruz?
How I manual again?
Is there a gmbn video comparing the characteristics of a coil and air rear shock?
Looks easier than it is!
UCSC anyone;)?
BIKES PEDALLING OMG SO C00L MAN
When manualling I tend to go to balance point press the brakes because of wheelie instincts then lose so much speed what are some tips to break this habit
Strange that the tutor for this segment lost the manual challenge to Neil (god of MTB skills) quite recently….Hmmmm. I wonder if GMBN is trying to get Blake back in the proverbial saddle, as it were. He did look pretty good in this effort….
When is Blake doing a bike check of his trail bike?
Hey guys could you have a look at a few of my videos, I do mountain bike vids and edits, just started YouTube goal is 50 subscribers. Would be greatly appreciated if you left a sub.
Thanks heaps
nice one Sam
Y not just bunny hop over these obstacles?
Blake, those small obstacles will NOT send you over the bars for sure 🙂 no chance, unless u have no idea how to ride and manual isn't needed here 🙂
Yeah but first i have to manual long😭 people say lean back and find the balancing point so i tried pushing my hips back and my thigh keep touching the saddle (even my saddle is all the way down) and the. Finaly i tried pulling back and ended up fucking hard now im scared to pull back cuz my pussy almost burn at my back tire plus its hard to find balancing point
@한기성 😂
Might as well get a unicycle
how dare you pedal whilst doing a manual 😂👌
saying "manual" everything you manual will help with the balance. fact. GMBN certified.
I manual on just about anything, including squids on the trails.
Did Blake mean to sound so much like Bear Grylls during the intro of this video?
haha cool vid man
why did Scott leave
I don't wanna be malicious, but in GCN there are really problems, for example "how to start riding on a climb". Who cares about manualing 😉
cool vid I wish I could do the manual (work in process) great to see how it can be used on the trail thanks Blake!
will a shorter stem help with manualling?
Ok. So now the part where you tell us how to do it, like the title says? XD
PEDALLINGG!!!!!!!!!!
I Taught that was "Manuel" Or Manual
I think of making a circle with my hands and feet. Kinda replacing where my hands are with my feet and vise verssa
So basically ride down the whole mountain on a manual. Got it
Why does zimblake manuals not follow suit with what Neil teaches.. Ass all the way down and out back? Zimblake is like standing up right during his… What is the the right way guys??
Just use a unicycle!!!
Title needs to be changed to "when" to manual on a trail, not "how."
Blake is a true blue legend
2:47 I didn't think he said that
nice skills pedaling and exlpaining good job! nice mood!
What kind are bike a u using I'm looking into getting a new bikes is that a enduro downhill bike I can't tell I want a bike that I can ride up and go downhill and hit the jumps with what would you choose each bike is like a golf club they say

#stampsforlife
Is that a 27.5 or 29? I'm having problems manualing with my 27.5.
Why is manualling so hard
i can manual but what i struggle with is keeping it straight any tips?
Another reason to learn how to manual.
#askgmbn What about a video on a manual machine?
🙁 So Jealous..
Wow awesome video buddy… I wanna start cycling again now I'm 34 could you plz suggest which bicycle should I buy in india.
Thanks
:20 Blake tries an Erotic appeal.
Is it easier with a hardtail?
Thx
Give Me a Bike Please….
I can’t manual, wheelie or bunny hop
I'm having a gearless bike. And I can't wheelie more than two paddles. Can I start practicing manual without mastering my wheelies.
Is it possible to master manual without mastering wheelie?
👌👍👏😉
Heres my problem i cant use the brakes i dont have enough time to react when to press the brake
