How to Fit Your Bike In Your Car

Hello! I’m Michael from Ivanhoe Cycles. I’m
going to show you how to fit a bicycle into your car after you’ve purchased it. Here’s
a small car, here’s a fairly large bicycle. The first thing you need to do is remove the
front wheel. I’ve shown you before how to do quick releases, so we’re just going to
release that, take the front wheel off. Now, if you gently rest the bike on the front forks,
it’s safe to lean it on the ground there. We’ve got a spacer to go in the disc brake. That
just stops the brake from closing up. Now lean the tyre somewhere safe. Near the driver’s
door’s a good spot because you’ll remember it. One of the important things when you’re
putting a bicycle in a car is make sure that the derailleur (the derailleur is the gear
changing devices) are facing up, never lay it downwards. Ah! There’s the front wheel
– lucky I left it there where I would see it. Well there’s a bike into the car! See
ya later.
