I’m Henry Abel I work at Pine Mountain
Sports. I ride a bicycle to work every day. We
have in the last few years tried to be a one-car family. My wife has a commute to
Redmond so she takes our car to Redmond every day. My pedal is about 15 minutes.
Just around two miles. From my apartment downtown I head down the stairs, out on
to Newport Street, across the bridge there… I usually will take the bike lane
down Newport Street to 14th or Century, make a left of the roundabout, and take
the bike lane down 14th all the way to work. Along those routes on 14th most
recently I’ve seen some road widened with some nice bike lanes even wider and
cleaner bike lanes along 14th which is about half of my commute. Long term it
would be pretty awesome if there were more bike lanes connecting East and West Bend… so in order to be able to go across town and be able to have a little bit
more direct path may be some quieter streets to ride on… Bend is small enough
and everything is is somewhat close enough that with a little bit of
planning pedaling is pretty easy.
