We were the first in The Netherlands to try the new electric bike from VanMoof The Electrified S2 Hi, it’s Erwin from Bright. One of the bikes we recommend in our guide Bright Stuff is the VanMoof Electrified S A new version has arrived, the S2 and we were able to use it already, let me show it to you. We’re at VanMoof, because we could only test it at their own location side. This new Electrified S2 is actually already the fourth version. Let’s go back in time and give a walkthrough of the four generations. They dusted this one of, this was the very first one Electrified of VanMoof. Their first e-bike. The nice thing was.. it didn’t look like an e-bike. You don’t see those big batteries at the back or at the front. It just looks like a citybike. Very cool, it even had a remote. A display over here. This one still looks a bit odd. You will see the display become more elegant. Let’s go to the next one. This is the second generation, the Electrified S. This one is from 2016, the first one is from 2014. You see the triangle in the frame is gone. The display is significantly different, nicer. You can even control it now. And my favorite: the boost-function If you use this function, you get some extra speed while cycling. Until 20km/h This is my own Electrified S, by the way. It’s my daily driver. I’m very happy with it. The we have the third version over here. Well, it’s actually not a newer version. because it’s still the Electrified S, but this one is known as the 2017 update. Two important differences compared to the original Electrified S, for instance this. This is used to give tension to the chain. Pretty nice to have. And.. my favorite.. I’m really sad that I don’t have this one. The boost-function has become a turbo boost-function and this one goes up to 32 km/h The previous version just has not enough boost to easily pass a high bridge or so. 20 km/h is not enough. This one can go all the way Well, this is the one! The Electrified S2. It will be available from October 4th and is already available for pre-order. Let me show you some things very quick. This is a new colour. Also in a glossy finish, for the first time. Dark gray is the colour. Some new details, a new display. The buttons have disappeared. Too much to tell you right now, I will tell you about them separately. A quick sneak peek. This is the Electrified X2 of VanMoof. This one will be available in November the X1 has never been sold in Europe, only in Japan. The X1 was very popular in Japan, so they are now also selling it in Europe. The X2 looks very cute. I want to explain a couple of thing about the Electrified S2, that are new compared to it’s predecessors. The first thing is it’s lock, or actually a full locking mechanism. It’s called the Keyless Stealth-lock We just call it the kicking-lock, because look: this is how to lock the bike. “click” Than it’s locked and you can walk away. You don’t even need a chain lock anymore. The previous version had an extra hole to put a chain lock through. You might need to use an extra lock if you live in Amsterdam, in an odd area. But, it’s not a must. If someone is trying to steal it.. watch, than this happens Easy, easy If you would do that even more, than it will completely lock down after two minutes. And, very important, the GPS-tracker will be triggered. As you could hear, the bike makes sounds. It is alive. It gives a funny “power up” sound if you turn it on. Also a “power down” sound which sounds like a sad robot saying “don’t leave me!” And the bell has also disappeared. It doesn’t need a button, so it can’t break. It’s now placed at the left under the handlebar. Go away! The S2 is coming through! The are a lot of other things to talk about. For instance how the mudguard is placed. Some very nice details. The screws can be handled manually. But I want to talk a bit more about my favourite function, the turbo boost. That button was placed on the left at the previous Electrified S. But it’s now placed to the right. And it’s also a more heavy boost, I will test that in a moment. I’m very curious. And to the left we have the bell. “Ping!” That’s also the on/off-switch by the way. I have tried it for some time, that turbo boost goes all the way. You wat this. I did accidentally push the left button, the previous model had the boost on that side. But than the bell rings. You definitely feel that extra power of the turbo boost. Because the motor, that’s placed over here, is 25% more powerfull. What I also really like, is that you don’t need to get that app to open the lock and so on. You don’t need it, you just kick it when you leave. “click” Done. What is my conclusion about the new VanMoof Electrified S2? You see very clearly how the bike has transformed. It’s again refined and VanMoof added new innovations. Well done. Who is it for? People who also want to get to work with their e-bike. It just doesn’t look like an e-bike. You don’t see the batteries. I really like that style. Do you already have an e-bike? A VanMoof maybe. An Electrified S. Than the differences might be to small. But if you don’t have an e-bike, or if you have a very old Electrified. Than this really is a must-have. I hope you liked this video.
