I guess the bike is mine now, so what would you like me to do with it next? 🤔
Check out the New 2020 GT Avalanche: http://bit.ly/2020_GT_ave
(P.s. I've not forgotten about the GT Sensor. I had to take it easy this summer due to some health stuff, but I'm getting back into things. Keep an eye out for more new content!)
Agreed, would be nice to have something between this and their 130mm bike.I already have a 150mm bike and I'm in the market for an aggressive hardtail
I must be old or cheap but at $825 that's a lot.
maybe you should take this bike and show gt how you'd spec a upgraded version of this bike
This is my dream frame on my future build and now my dream mtb for hardtail.gota save money for these one
Real Talk though, would you go buy this bike with your own money. If you demoed this bike, would you buy it?
I don't like the brakes in this bike. They were on my bike, too. My rear brake piston broke midd-wheelie, so I upgraded them to shimano br-m6000 and I have to say that I really like them☺️
I feel like the siskiu d5 is also quite a well priced but nice bike. Good video man
I love Gt bike's 😃
sorry to break it to you but 800$ aint what id call budget
Great video I have to say. I am still riding my 1995 GT RTS that I picked up near new in 96. I have been wary of GT bikes since Turner sold it off to Pacific. I may have to go and have a look at this one to see if it is time to update.
I still ride my '92 Team Avalanche!
Interesting when he asked GT to make a better hardtail, that was last year.. and it was last year I was after a fair priced but well grounded hardtail, perhaps a notch or two up from a starter bike.. That is why I went for a Giant fathom , there just wasnt that price range/equipment coverd by GT.. & I didn't want the 29'er ally Zaskar . You need to look how the fathoms are spec'd out and try and match it. Tall order I know… I would of loved the new Zaskar or Avalanche to be that bike.
Try the cross traction sl3! You wont regret it for 345 dollars!
What do you think about the 2020 orbea laufey 29er?
Geometry looks good GT on the right track not got the £££ for every type of terrain.
very good video i both ghost mtb i was a bit angry couse brakes and clutch was bad and now i both cube reaction hpa and i love it! so yeah…. good luck with your bike 😀👍
Am only waiting to see Seth in the comments
820$ that’s more than 400$ for anyone wondering 😂
Have you ridden Croiser Mountain in Estes Park? This this bike could handle it?
do you have a link to convert the rear axle like you did did you use std hub? I have the same bike and have had issues with the qr slackening off constant
You're better off buying a high spec full sus bike – second hand for the same price
You can’t upgrade the rotors as they are riveted on the hubs. Companies do this to make their bikes cheaper but I absolutely hate it.
I have the 2019 GT Pantera. It's basically the same frame (minus internal droper post routing) lowered specs and 27.5+ size tires for around $500 bucks! I love it! Upgrading it will be so much fun!
lol, you got a free bike, so technically you did get paid to review the bike. if they wanted it back after you reviewed it, ok, but you got to keep the bike.
I think this bike will only be a bargain if you find/buy it on a >30% sale, but in late 2020 or during 2021 that probably will happen. I made such a bargain bike purchase in 2019 it's difficult enough to argue for yet another purchase for a handful of years to come.
Hell no for 800 … giant talons are way better…
Awesome job on the vid I’ve always thought your content is very professional quality and look forward to seeing more
What's the song at 0:37?
Grew up riding GTs but never heard of the Triple Triangle? Nonsense.
Vitus Sentier is cheaper and far superior to this bike
Get a GT
I'm only an hour north of Denver.
Can you review the Merida Big 9 XT edition 2020?
I am riding a 2019 Avalanche right now. This is my 4th GT and I love it better than the others. It has a slightly aggressive stance and feels solid wherever I ride. Once I finish paying this one off I'll be buying the 2020. 🙂
I wouldn’t say $800 is budget but it seems pretty good for the money I guess
Were can I buy this
Perfect as I’m trying to get my sister a bike
Awesome review. We just bought 6 of them for our rental fleet. Agree that the need a hardtail just under the sensor would be so sick.
Great gob. I really liked this video even though I don't want that kind of bike.
I wouldn't pay more than 500 for this bike imo. I would rather build a bike with good used parts for less
Awesome video, your voice is very good for voice overs.
The Ranger tires are horrible. The rest of the components are good choices. Glad you share your thoughts sans marketing lingo and paid promotion. Love the @tasco-mtb hat!!-Nick 😃👍
This is GT Bicycles Avalanche Elite, it is a high end beginner Hard tail little short of the money for an even better Hard tail, half the money for a cheap Fully. It is not better then any other hard tail and it is not cheap. But as GT bike it is slightly cheaper then other more famous brands. I am not saying it's bad I love it, but it is not much different then any 500$ Hard tail with a cheap suspension on the trail. Sure it has a 1x and that is what bumps the prize up 200 exactly the cost of a 1x train drive. Yes If I would look for a Hardtail now this would be perfect. But I already own a crappy hardtail and it's as good as any crappy hardtail. Once on a trail you realize just how much better fully bikes are. If you gonna ride this for real you need Pedals + Tires + new fork = 350 extra. At that point you should have both even better Hardtail or just saved for fully.I admit I like GT bikes and their new colors are way better in 2020, sadly I am done with my Hardtail upgrades it will never become a fully.
my first HT was an avalanche and i still ride it now and then. good little bike.
Or get the nucleus vr i have it and its so damn good🤙👍
Going used is pretty good too, built a full sus with an air fork for 400ish dollars!
really nice to see them trying harder, but i still think there are better hardtails for this price.
For a solid, aggressive HT – take a look at the NS Bikes Eccentric… 29er frame can be fitted with 29 or 27.5+ wheels for maximum flexibility.
Rode Haro as a kid so like GT because I thought they were on the same level!
I'm pretty happy with my Scott Aspect 760 and I only spent 499.00 but I would have liked to test this bike out before hand.
And how much is it?
i still have my gt zaskar tripe triangle desing double buffed aluminum 1998 bike. its a beast!
700 for a bike seems a bit steep for me hey if it works for you who am I to judge
U need better lighting in ur videos
so i did some looking on gt's website and it seems to cost as much as my 2018 canondale trail 6 29" and im a bit salty bout the clutch it seems way nicer then having my chain slapping around + i have tubeless ready rims
"budget" over $800 US
I ride double black diamonds with a trek marlin 5, 29inch wheels
This is good for its value true but there is something better if you want an air fork for the same price of 499 get the vitus nucleus 27vr it’s amazing mbr rated it best hardtack of the year under 500 and I’m so happy with it
$825 bike with no dropper post and noisy forks?? Not worth the value.
12:00 anybody know what bike this is?
Nice review, congrats on the bike!
Only $825 damn what a steal
its tapered you can put fox 32s on it
which bike was your pal ridding on?Is it a Marlin 7?
Naw I’d say a marlin is prolly best for budget
You left your GoPro on the bike.
I like it,tail looks comfy
My first and third mtb is GT. Till now I'm still keeping/ pedal my favorite V-brake GT 26er year 1992 crome model (original frame made in us). My best ever V-brake mtb on any trail/ track while you're riding it. And also I have 3 more others hard tails mtb on 26er/ Marin/ Litespeed (2 set) & my new 27.5er/ Norco (1 set). GT mtb are all rounder to me !!! Greeting frm cross country rider- Malaysia !!!
Another question GT : Since the Avalanche Comp (great new frame) trail bike supply with 100mm travel fork, it be recommended to upgrade
onto 120mm travel (27.5 er/ size S)?! Go go GT ! Thanks.
have a 4.0 love it
I ride a large ragley mmmbop and a small avalanche for lols
Absolutely agree about the gap between hardtail bikes and full suspension, and not just for GT. Thinking about selling my full sus for a newer hardtail since most of the trails around my city don't call for it; but every hardtail seems to be either budget oriented, or hardcore XC – theres a gap in the market for all mountain hardtails, where I would happily pay the price of a low-mid range full suspension, swapping the suspension for a hardtail that's not just another aluminium/suntour/deore config
I sent you an email. It's a review of your review and I basically loved it!
Cool, I thought GT had gone out of business as I haven't seen them for sale anymore in my part of Europe. I have an Avalanche 1.0. I don't think you can beat GT value for money – you get a lot of bike for a garbage bike price. My Avalanche still works just fine. And with a GT you get an extra set of triangles in the frame 😉
My buddy bought the Marin nail trail (6 or 7 I don’t remember) which is a bike that is no longer sold through chain reaction. $700 and it came with a recon air fork, hydraulic shimano brakes, and nx horizon 1×11. Internal cable routing for a $100 brand x ascend 125 mil dropper (as he is a small guy) also comes with shwalbe tires. Up to $800, and that is still $25 less than this bike he reviewed. No hate to gt as they are a well established brand but there are better options out there.
Where do you work? I wish we had a nice bike rack at our site 😂
Framed bikes, all day, every day
Says budget bike then says it's only $ 825
for only 18k subs the cinematography is mad!
Personally i think that for the money this bike is not worth buying. The main reason for me is that this bike cost $825 while the GT sensor is around $1200. Now for me it would be better to save $400 and just get the full suspension bike compare to this one.
The REAL test is when you buy one of their bikes from where they sell it to normal people and then test it. Don't just rely on the test from the perfect sample they send you.
At :57 seconds I’m turned away by the stupid noises someone thought was music
I have a gt pantera paid 350 after 600 on top of the price is a great bike
$1k is “budget” smh.. fuck that bs
Budget bike? That is my dream bike. Still earning for my first ever bike yet not enough thou, can i have one?🤭😂
That's no very budget friendly .At that price I could probably get a polygon Xtrada 7 and that would come with a deore xt drivetrain and 120mm travel on the 27.5 .But I like polygon too much I guess, my daily commuter bike is a siskiu d7. Kinda wish they put an fs2 or fs3 linkage on it since my friend has an old collosus sx3.0 and the fs2 really eliminates pedal sag. Can't bring it on the train though, they only allow foldable bikes. I'm lucky I don't really ever have to go more than 10 km since my country is really small.I woul like the gt avalanche though, I love bikes that can flex, I got to ride a Lynskey once, some girl I met on the trail wanted to try a full-sus bike before she brought one and we swapped bikes for awhile . That was really fun.
Did really enjoy your vlog. 👍
My very early 90s GT titanium ridgid..over the years Ive moded it.Best thing thats happened is fatter tyres ( had to grind off side knobs on rear to fit in). Gone to small single chain ring (left front derailer on as a chain keeper on device)Seats and pedals have improved over the years..might try clip ons.Kool stop pads moved away from cantilevers..might go back. Got double skinned bar and using Deore simple lever ..also gone back to freewheel on lighter single skin rims high tensile spokes (not stainless).Restraint is needed shredding down but very light climber and amazing (not always nice to wrists) ground/ road feed back feel. Looking for one of those think they were called " isostatic" bar stems..they had synthetic shock absorber washer in them..Cant find one in the wider diameter steering tube size. Absolute joy on the road Have spare wheel set road tyred but have to swap off wide bars on road.
P s Im 64 yrs old here in Brisbane Australia..we can legally ride on sidewalk here.Helmet wearing MANDATORY…I dont bother
the last 3 seconds just shoved mz motivation to take mz gravel out for a ride, but it's late
i don't kniw if 800 is budgetdecathlon sells some pretty nice looking bikes for 800
What pedals were added?
Great bike, I love it. Every factory should have an ''around the world'' bike. We should drive more as species.
u should definately look at some of the vitus range for the same price you get a whole lot more bike apart form that its a great video
It's funny how GT keeps rebranding the same bike. Was the GT Aggressor, something else before that. And yes, it's a great bike. The stuff that comes with is not great but will stay together for rough rides and, it's easy to upgrade.
I ride my cheaper, stock standard Norco Storm 7.2 on black trails, sometimes with the stock pedals, (when my good pedals are on my DJ) and I have no problems. People don't need expensive bikes to ride well, it's about skill. Not saying I'm that good though.
Well done reviewing that 2020 GT Avalanche you really deserve that bike. I like what you said on the last part "go grab your bike and find your next adventure"
