Fails and Bails of the Year 2019

Fails and Bails of the Year 2019

– Merry Christmas everyone,
from a few, few days ago! I got some great goodies
from family and friends, yes! Welcome to this months fails and bails, it is December, it’s
nearly the end of the year, we’ve basically gone through
a whole year of biking, crash or no crash. Some of us come out of it unscathed, some are going to carry some injuries through into the new year, I am so sorry. Healing vibes out to you. But we’re still out there sending it, regardless how hard, or how slow we ride, or how whatever, how much air we get. Now I’ve put together
a few fails and bails, some we’ve seen throughout the year. We need to resurrect them
because they’re quite gnarly, and they’re pretty funny some of them, and then now I’m going
to put in a few new ones, because you still send ’em in, and it still goes a
little bit wrong for us. So roll fails and bails. (loud bang and crackling) Okay, I’m going to kick
it off with Connor, now we’ve seen this one before, Mr. Ashton did this
one, I haven’t seen it, but what it says in the description, he says that he’s just, you know, freshly built this jump, he
wants to do some stunts on it, and he thought, “ah hell,
I’m going to do a suicide!” Know what a suicide is,
is you’re just going to throw your arms behind you, in the air, and then grab your bars again. Grab your bars again. This is what Connor did, look at this. He’s coming in, he’s on a
Santa Cruz V10, downhill bike. (gasps)
(soft rustling) (soft bright music)
Clean out, completely clean out, knocked
himself out for a little bit. Yes, he says he knocked himself out. I don’t blame him, look
how he headbutt that. (soft rustling) (exhaling loudly) We’ve all been there. Well I’ve been there, I love stunting, I like taking my hands
off, but some people like to keep their hands
firmly on the bike. But let’s watch that again, ’cause oh man, it’s weird how the bike just drops away, look at that it drops away, and then comes back up and smacks him. Poor guy, poor guy! He’s all right, well
done, try again, next! (soft whooshing)
Right, we’re moving on to this one, this is Simon, he’s on a YT Jeffsy,
now this is a good bike, now you can look at those jumps, right, let’s pause it there for a minute. Look at that, there’s a set of jumps, all in a row, table tops, great for progressing your jumping skills. Now press play. He’s coming in, he looks
kind of comfortable, he’s clearing those ones,
he’s clearing the third one, what happened there? (loud clapping)
Straight over the bar. Straight over the bars,
like he had good form, let’s go back, he had good form there, number one, good, number two, great, number three, cleared
it, disappears, pops out. (low beeping)
He gets bucked over the bars, poor guy, Simon. (sighs loudly) It’s like he got too excited on the last, and he decided to like hell no, he jacked the seat straight to his back. Now let’s stop right here,
right on the takeoff, look at him going over the bars. Now I would like to point out, that he did come out of this
with a bit of an injury, he broke his shoulder, poor guy, healing vibes out to you dude. Press play now, slow motion. (groans) (sighs) Straight to his back. Ah, I’m sorry mate,
but that’s good effort, good effort, you had good form until then. (sighs) Healing vibes mate, well done! Okay, moving on to Mark,
so Mark sent this in, of his mate Ollie, Ollie is
riding a Trek Remedy 8.0, it’s his first time at Woburn Sands, this is Matt Jones’ local spot, where he does all his
training, I’ve been there, it’s super sandy, it’s quite
forgiving when you crash, which is a good thing. Now what Ollie did, he coming in, looks like he got speed, look at him, jumps that first one, he does a pump, he pulls so much, look! How did he get away? Like that a good, good way to crash. Like he did a nose manual all the way to the third jump, and
just dismounts his bike. But he says he’s fine,
like the bike and himself weren’t harmed in this, but how cool is, that I’m telling you is a good save. Let’s play that again. Look, he… Crazy! Like you can nose manual
and then get off unscathed. (applauding) Well done, Ollie, well done. (soft whooshing)
Right, Jonas. Right, he’s a German lad, he’s out in Winterberg, Germany,
I’ve been to this bike park. They’re out riding some
downhill bikes, okay, they’re all chilling at this stop point, where basically you’re going to, you stop, you chill out, you talk
about what’s going on. Now, look, Jonas got (laughs). Okay, so full face is there
to protect your grill, right when your grill hits the floor, and a full face kind of protects it. But look where he gets caught up, in that yellow barrier, boom, right in there, like, aw, it’s funny, it’s brilliant. He’s riding his YT Dirt-jump bike, let’s play that again, yeah. (soft crashing)
(whimsical music) How’d it go, went in there? They’re all having a
giggle though. (applauds) (soft whooshing)
Kay, we’re going from Germany, we’re coming all the way back
to the UK, Woburn Sands again. Now this step up jump is
the new and improved jump. As he says, Ethan is saying
it’s the new, improved step up. Now I know this step up, this step up is massive, it’s big, and the roll in into this thing, it’s not for the faint hearted. You have to go fast for it,
because it’s a huge jump, the lips like 10 foot, 12 foot high. Now his mate is coming in, look. Whoa, look at the body position already off the lip, super steep. Whoa, he’s slow. (high-pitched chimes)
He’s not going to make that! (triumphant music)
He’s not going to (laughs). He’s not, he’s not made that. Hundred percent, look at that, he was looked like he was in good form, let’s play that again. (slow whimsical music)
Look, huge off the lip, he’s like not even enough height. (loud clap)
Slap! Slap back in the middle of that, it’s like he wanted to fake you. Now if I was to do it, I can’t fake you, so I wouldn’t, I would’ve have done that, I would’ve crashed, that there is called commitment to the very
end, where the captain goes down with the ship,
he dint even ditch his bike to like basically jump
over onto the landing, he went straight into it. That, brilliant. He wasn’t hurt either,
now we can laugh at that. (laughs) I can’t because actually his crown jewels could’ve smashed into that top tube, and that’s the worst. Fair play for trying that jump, because that jump is
massive, not going to lie, I’ve hit it, it’s big, moving on. (soft whooshing)
Right, we’re going to stay in the UK, ’cause this
is where this crash is. And that day where this
was taken was a mates race, so basically all your mates go out, and you have a little
banter, and you have a race against each other. Now Con, is on a Specialized Enduro, there’s two clips of
this, run the first one where it’s portrait, why
film portrait, don’t know, but look at this.
(men cheering) They’re all cheering him
on, and then (claps) boom! (laughs) I can laugh, all his mates are laughing. Look at that tumble, there is a nice like commando roll at the back, it’s like backwards commando roll. Look at, wow! All right, let’s play this next clip. Now this one’s filmed in
landscape, so much better, but it’s a little bit further down, more close to the action. Look, they’re cheering him on, pointing, boom and then skid, skid, and then (claps) straight over the front! Look at that! Like if it wasn’t for those bushes, it would’ve been a really hard landing, like there were even those rocks there. I think you would’ve been,
a bit more worse off, but let’s play that again. (men cheering) (groans) Man look how it
jackknives on that left-hander. Just spits him straight
off into the bushes. I can’t, it just (laughs). Geo and his mates are all arguing at the top of this trail, saying, “who’s going to go first?” He decides hell, I’m
going to drop in first, nice and beautiful
trail, it looks amazing. Look at it, it looks very fast, very– (soft thud)
(low whooshing) (dramatic music)
Look at that thing coming from the left-hand side. (loud clap) Smacks straight into him. Wait, sh, listen to this. Mr. Ashton’s favorite noise.
(loud pained groaning) I can feel that, I can feel that. (loud groaning) Rewind it, back to where
the deer’s just about to jump out in front of him, so you can see that deer in the eye. Look at that. Now how, how can you tell
that’s going to happen, imagine you’re going down a trail, you didn’t even know
that was going to happen. That little poor deer, going to run out and smack you in the chest, press play. Bang. (loud rustling) (groans and laughs) (loud pained groaning) Geo, thank you so much
for sending that in, because that is pure, pure, POV gold, like capturing that. But the sound is nuts,
let’s play that sound. (loud pained groaning)
(groans) (thumping) (claps) It sounds like
a deer’s mating call. (slowed groaning) Ridiculous, moving on. (soft whooshing)
Right, this one’s a good one. Oliver sent this in, and he’s riding his Norco Fluid One Plus, or
Plus One, it’s a hard tail, anyway, he’s riding his local trail, this trail is, he says is really hard, it’s dry, and its the first
time he hit this jump. Now, it looks cool, look
he’s coming in from the top, his mate’s filming it, do, do, do, what? He’s not hitting that lump, I thought he was going to hit that lump, and then whoa!
(loud clap) (rustling) It’s like Chuck Norris
got his sniper gun out, went down the barrel and went (clicks) (loud bang)
(loud clap) Straight over the bars. You know those memes that the people do, that is a perfect, poor
guy, he says he’s fine, he said he over-jumped
it, and ate the ground. Hundred percent ate the ground. Right it’s the worst thing I’ve ever done is over-jumping jumps,
especially when you’re getting bucked over the bars,
over-jumping, the worst. Let’s play that again, from that lump. Flipping like! (loud rustling) Wha? It’s like a catapult. Flunk!
(loud rustling) (exhales loudly)
(soft whooshing) Right, we’re going to move
ourselves from United Kingdom, we’re going to jump all
the way over that pond, that massive pond, and dump ourselves in United States, in
Alafia River State Park, now this is where Chris himself, running, riding his Specialized
Stunt-jumper Twenty-Niner, on a trail called De-railed,
where he is going to get de-railed, ’cause
he’s wearing one of those 360 cameras, and he caught this. Nice trail. (dramatic music)
(man shouts) (soft clap) How that, look at that! Now that is perfect use of a 360 camera capturing that crash. And he slowed, flipping heck. (laughs and applauds) I can laugh ’cause he’s laughing, if he wasn’t laughing, I wouldn’t laugh, ’cause I’d be scared for the poor guy. Chris, that’s ridiculous. Let’s play that again. How did that happen? Look at his bike, his
bike hits him in the head. But look at his hand, his left hand looks like it’s broken? He’s laughing. (man laughs) We’ve seen this one
before, it was like nearly right at the beginning of the year. That there is brilliant. I’m going to stop talking. (loud click) Let’s play that again. (dramatic music) (laughs) Oh, that’s brilliant! Well done Chris, he did
say, like I was thinking, “how the hell can a bike just stop “and ping you over the
bar, just like that?” He said, there was an overhanging root where his foot got caught underneath, and it literally spat him over the bars. That’s how that happened. Aw, brilliant. Thank you very much, Chris,
let’s move onto the next one. (soft whooshing)
Okay, this is the penultimate fail and bail, and what penultimate means is the second last one,
of the fails and bails, we got one more after this, the last one. Anyway, this one is sent in by Hogan, we’re going to stay in the United States, because he just (laughs) the video says it’s called The Human Speed-bump. So let’s just press play, and find out what this human speed-bump,
does he run over his mate? (loud whooshing) Whoa, that was a big– (gasps) (laughs) Aw, that’s not funny. That’s not funny, like, cool
you’re following your friend, imagine me running over Neil,
or Neil running over me. (gasps) There’s no laughing there,
that means it’s a bit serious. Hogan, why would you run over your, let’s, let’s go back,
let’s go back all the way, just before they take off, like
it looks like a cool trail, and then vroom, he slide out, and. Bloop, bloop, bloop. Runs over his friend. The description says nothing,
follow cam fail in Canna City. – [Cyclist] You okay? – And can I ask you, like
what hap, like, poor guy! Oh, let’s just play that again. Just one more, ’cause its like whoa. (loud rustling) (soft crashing) – [Cyclist] Damn bro, you okay? (laughing) Whoa, poor chap. Like I’m surprised there’s
no like broken ribs, or like anything though,
but maybe, it doesn’t say. Poor guy. Thanks Hogan. (soft whooshing)
Right, now we’re moving on to the last one, yes, now this one is our, you know, our dirt shed show, we do every week, we do every week, we do a show dedicated to
mountain biking news and whatever, now A Wire, yes A Wire
is one of our favorites from there because he’s just a rad dude, and he love to send it,
and he is sending it, now he’s just sent this in. He is from Jamaica, so we’re
going from the United States all the way to Jamaica,
like the other side, somewhere over there,
over there somewhere, and I’m just going to leave it to him, ’cause he intros his video perfect. Look at this. – A Wire, and I’m back again, this is the third attempt, I’m trying to flip this box, so first
I put some mattress down, for safety reasons, you know,
I’m not working one day, so. (laughter)
So, all right. I’ma say it, yeah bro. (jazzy music) Whoa!
(loud thud) (loud thud) (loud thud) (loud bang) – (clapping) Flipping
look at that last crash of the attempt of the front flip is probably one of the
scariest horrible thing ever. You know humans have tailbones, it’s called a coccyx, now
you could’ve broken that, right there, horrible,
all of his mates are there but he’s having fun. Least he’s wearing a helmet,
hit him in the face, poor guy. Now A Wire, I salute you dude, that was amazing, thank you very much for sending that in,
and thank you very much to everyone else
throughout this whole year sending it, and committing
to perfecting certain stunts, certain techniques on the trail, but crashing and burning and
breaking stuff and healing, and then going back out
there to do it again, I salute you, because
that’s what mountain biking is all about, we love the sport, we love to send it, and we just want to make riding our bikes
a little bit better. Now the new year is coming,
and I say happy new year to you beautiful people,
and thank you so much again for sending in all this good stuff, because we’re all out there to have fun, and it does end in tears sometimes when you’re having a
little bit too more fun, but you just want to
progress your riding anyway. Now if you want to keep
sending these sort of things in hit that link there, send it in to us, because we love to see it, and if you want we can show it up on
here, because you know, we can scrutinize it,
and hopefully give you a pointer or two, to stop you doing that. Anyway, if you want to
continue watching GMBN, that binge watching, click this over here, ’cause there’s our dirt shed show special, it’s a Christmas special,
if you missed it, click it because it’s bloody brilliant. Don’t forget to hit the globe subscribe because you’re missing
out on some rad stuff. Give us a thumbs up like
if you love to send it, even though you crash, see ya!
