Bringing Life Back to a Dying FREERIDE TRAIL! – ‘Platinum’ Freeride MTB | Jordan Boostmaster

This footage is from earlier
in the summer, but I thought it was still worth posting because it’s a really fun
day revisiting an old trail and exploring the old school lines it has to offer
you can see what I mean by these old pictures that I got off the internet
this trail has really great features that I wanted to see if they held up
over the years hey guys so I’m here at the woodlot by
myself today I’m checking out a trail called platinum I haven’t ridden this
trail in probably maybe eight years like it’s been a really long time so I’m
trying to find myself a sweet line for the GoPro evolution contest and it’s due pretty soon, so I’m hoping platinum will be a really sweet line and I hope that I can
actually that I can actually ride it well so I was talking about part one of
the GoPro evolution contest which is long finished now I didn’t win anything
but it gave me a really good reason to check out this trail again I really
didn’t know how this trail was gonna look at this point and it turns out it
has not held up like I had hoped seeing these old ladder bridges man I love
those things really sucks when they are no longer rideable. jump down there jump
right here over this little log looks like this is not writable at all so tree
right in the way so you don’t want to hit that that’s for sure that’s pretty
cool cool thanks it’s all ski that that’s pretty cool
all right so I want to do the skinny line jump down here roll here line jump
it’s not a big jump or anything make sure you’re kind on the left so you
don’t run into that branch over there it’s just so full of loam because no one
rides this like seriously no one Rises like almost too much loan where I don’t
know it could be somewhat slippery a little bit kind of weak so like like
this is like middle section that way that way that’s so cool
this jump looks pretty cool yeah I think I actually do kind of remember this jump
do a quick little practice run here oh yeah it’s easy to clear easy so
getting a bit higher on the trail here we got a few kind of smooth where we
jumps and some low me stuff and a pretty cool skinny on the side here I don’t
know I’m just not really convinced that this chills gonna work very well from
the GoPro evolution contest line I mean I was I was thinking there’s gonna be a
lot more um stunts like still those all these jumps which start kind of used to
be there’s only a few them now and they’re not very big either even though
a lot has deteriorated it was still worth checking out the trail obviously
this trail does not get written much at all it is one of the higher trails of
the mountain and so it rarely sees any traffic and you can tell nature has been
reclaiming this trail over the years definitely some fun to be had on this
trail but I mean it’s not a big jump or anything that’s pretty easy cool oh yeah
nice so this was my favorite part of the whole trail you got this rock drop into
this berm and that jump and there’s even another gap jump before that rock drop
as well this is the place where I think I’m gonna spend some time forming a line
together okay yeah you can just kind of throw it on the rock right there above
this point is just a bunch of single track loam which is actually a lot of
fun but that’ll be it for the fun stunts and wooden features Oh completely missed the jump did not see
this coming at all right there hey let’s see how it is getting into the jump I
don’t know dude turn here yeah doesn’t the card just got to be turning the
whole way up otherwise yeah it’s doable oh yeah looks good let’s do it so this
area does look the most promising to put together a fun line but I do want to
hike all the way up so I can at least see the entire trail and then I’ll make
my way down I got to say it was definitely different than how I was
remembering it I mean with it being so long ago of course I’m not going to
remember it accurately but still here we go oh definitely start so why so the first part of this trail is
fairly flat and there is nothing up here worth making a line out of so I was just
be heading back to where I was before this and it’s time for us to put
together a fun line yes I actually did it
oh my goodness oh that was sick I actually did the jump I’m stuck all of
his burns like it is terrible but if I can make that burn I could clear this
jump ha that’s sweet oh no I’m feeling back in the game so
stoked I hit the jump suit again so I definitely had to clear away sin the
loan from these berms so I could actually hit them without sliding and I
was actually starting to get it whoo that’s enough that hard after all oh oh yeah oh it’s so cool that’s fine
and gloomy and dark sucks and can do it I was experimenting with
some different starting points to find a good length that wouldn’t get me too
tired by the end of the line I also tried some different camera angles and
in the end I got some shots I was happy with I can do that better this clip here
would be the best clip I got of this line and this is one of the clips I
submitted for the contest obviously this line is not nearly as
spectacular as Geordie lens line that one but I can say it felt a lot better
than it looks the camera really does not convey the fun factor that I was
experiencing with this fast flow alone section at the beginning and then making
my way into a few features that looked like they haven’t been written in years
and the fact that I had spent a couple hours privacy on this and successfully
linking it all together it’s a really satisfying feeling that you just can’t
really get by watching the footage oh yeah
there’s not even a minute that was sick all right yeah here we go finish this line all right see all right it’s time to
head down the trail a bit more now I’m just I’m just really glad that at least
link that together yeah this jumped it’s pretty fun so that’s one line I’m gonna
submit for the GoPro evolution contest maybe I can find another line on a
different trail like heckle and Jeckle or something but well that was a lot of
fun it is time now to shred on down at this time we’re gonna do the movie oh my
goodness what was that yep old lines better not even joking though like the
old ones actually like sweet so there are just a bunch of these lone lines
that bypass all these old fun features so that’s basically what everyone would
ride nowadays but personally I would much rather ride those old features they
look like a lot more fun so you know we get to this really cool drop but it is
so sketchy well the landing is so sketchy here’s
why see that big log in your face oh man I’m not just that ruins it
God take a chainsaw laughing man I seriously yeah yeah like that’s fun put that in
the line I did submit another clip of me riding heckle and Jeckle which is a
really great jump trail that was my made submission for the GoPro evolution
contest that will actually be my next upload as a part of my raw trails with
boost master series I never actually want anything with it unfortunately I
never even made top ten so that’s too bad but it really is a sweet trail
you’re definitely going to want to watch out for that video trail it’s sick okay
skinny crap oh yeah how thick is that and then hit
this jump dude oh sick would that be how about we hit it crossing this trees
sketch crap no okay so I can’t do that right now come on here we go
Oh ending there that was pretty sick though huh a little jump sketchy corners okay that was bad
I think I remember tasting that jump in the past I just kind of went for it did
not have enough speed let’s see how I do it oh oh oh no I just destroyed the jump
Oh No rest in peace that’s bad I just
destroyed it I can’t even believe that oh my goodness I mean obviously it was
getting rotten the chute I get like bigger and bigger oh man another thing
that’s so fun about this days is just about bringing life back to an old dying
trail I’m not sure how much of that translated into this video but that’s
how it felt for me there is potential to have lots of fun on this trail even if
you’re just riding the lone lines that bypass the old stunts it has essentially
more from a double black diamond to a blue trail all right back where we
started oh man that was a cool trail rest in
peace poor skinnies poor ladder bridges I always loved being able to see the
stunts firsthand that people used to ride even though they’re no longer
rideable it’s a good reminder of what could be in an inspiration of all kinds
of trails we could still build and what kind of things we can ride with our
bikes we are not restricted by just one type of trail or whatever’s mainstream
at the time sometimes you just got to think outside
the box where can your bike take you you are free to experiment and explore this
is free ride and free ride never died thank you for watching I want to give a
special thanks to my police Master patrons did you left down hill and free
