Brendan Fairclough, Bernard Kerr & Olly Wilkins | EMBN E-Bike Challenge

– So the race season is
over, the e-bikes are out. Today, I’m joined by three
guys, three mountain bike guys, who have taken things to the next level. A guy who totally flipped out at Rampage in the desert of Utah. A guy who can actually stand
up skidding down a field with his bike next to him. And a man who has taken SKIDZ
in Jeans to the next level. Actually, I meant skidding in jeans, Brendan Fairclough, Bernard
Kerr, and Olly Wilkins. (exciting music) (electronic buzzing) Here we are with the
London skyline behind us. We have fresh from Rampage, Olly Wilkins and Brendan Fairclough. And the man who won one of
the hardest downhill races in the world, Bernard Kerr. Okay guys, so what totally
pointless challenge have we got today here on
the outskirts of London on the other side of the M25? – We’re here in the depths
of the Surrey Hills, as you can see behind us, London, just there, a quick
30-minute drive into town, if you needed to go there, but we don’t. We’re in the thick of it, in the mud, and the challenges today are six, are we saying trials or not? Are we saying– – You can call it whatever you want. – Six challenges, so we’re
calling it the Surrey Six Day. – Right, Surrey Six Days it is. Let’s get in the woods. (upbeat music) First challenge, before
we get into the woods, is a wheelie challenge. Really simple, but let’s
switch the motors off. I’ve never, ever done it before. – Yeah, right. – So, we’re doing an e-bike
video on e-bikes for… – EMBN.
– EMBN, with no motors on? – Well we can try, can’t we? – Yeah, let’s try it.
– Let’s try it. – Have you felt it? Oh my god it’s– (kazoo whistle blowing) – Please see ya. (laughing) – One meter. – Brendan’s next. – Oh. – Oh, (beep), you’ve done it. (gentle music) – [Olly] Well, that’s a zero,
then, if you get to the top. – I guess. – [Olly] Better than me
did it and Steve did. (smooth music) Yes! (smooth music) I don’t know why the seat
is so low, it seems weird. – [Brendan] I would
definitely do that again. – [Steve] So, I’m currently
last with 1.5 meters. (laughing) – Yes! (smooth music) – Right, see if Steve can beat 1.5 meters. (laughing) – What the (beep)’s going on? – Why don’t you sort it out then! – About two meters! (laughing) – I know he’s getting his
credit card out tonight for all the beers! – That’s a five to begin. (upbeat music) – Okay, Bernard’s first. Ah, he’s done this all the time. (upbeat music) – Oh, one! (upbeat music) – Very good indeed! – Good there it is, there it is. (clapping) That’s good that is. (upbeat music) – Is that how you did it, like that? (upbeat music) – Oh, it’s slidy isn’t it? – [Olly] Yeah! Good start Steve! – Dude, it’s solid you got this. – Can you keep an eye
where my back wheel is? – [Olly] No, you can’t do that. Whoa! – Oh! (upbeat music) – My eyes and, oh! – No! – That’s it, that’s a five you’re done (thudding)
(laughing) – You all right?
– Yeah. – Crazy moron! – Olly, you’re next. – What are you going for,
what zone you going in? – I’m in Eco, I’m going
to trail the whole way. (fast forward scratching) (upbeat music) – Yes!
– And he’s home clean baby! – Clean! – Yes! (clapping) – Man of the match!
– There it is. (quick exhaling)
(upbeat music) – You got it on your back wheels. (upbeat music) – Oh! (upbeat music) – You got it. – Wheelie off, might not be
the best thing in the world. – Oh! No!
(laughing) (clapping) Nice! – It’s mental you just come
back from some ridiculous stuff at Rampage and you’re just laughing going around (elephant noise) park bench. – Its a tricky park bench. – Into the woods?
– Into the woods. (upbeat music) – Wow!
(upbeat music) – [Brendan] Oh my god! (upbeat music) ♪ Stand up ♪ (upbeat music) (leaves crunching) (upbeat music)
♪ Stand up ♪ – So, my bog challenge, you come down through this little crease. Between these little
guys, into this sweet bog – Yeah, that’s a nice bog isn’t it? Sorry bog. – And you go between
these two bits of the log over the high point. – Yeah and then end there? – Yeah, my section just ends
there, just one little section. – [Steve] Lets get stuck in! (upbeat music) Oh, it’s tight isn’t it?
(mellow music) Oh!
(mellow music) So, Bernard’s clean!
(mellow music) – Oh my god, you got ten psi in the tires. Easy! (upbeat music) Yes, oh no! (laughing)
– [Bernard] Oh, send it down! – [Steve] Brendan’s about to five it. (laughing) Yeah, I counted one (mellow music) Easy, easy. (mellow music) – Olly’s one, you got to start there. You go round the tree
somehow in between there, three second break,
then through the trees. – I feel like it might be worth a dab where the rock is. – [Brendan] Are you allowed one? – [Bernard] Nah, that means you get a one. – [Brendan] Oh, yeah. – [Bernard] That means you have to buy another pint in the pub. (laughing) (mellow music) – [Bernard] Oh, I like it. – [Steve] All right, nice. Oh wait! Where’s the three second stop? Where’s the three second stop? – No three second stop?
– Yeah, go! Go down and three second stop. – You have to try again, Olly! (laughing) – [Olly] It’s my challenge. I don’t want a three second stop. (laughing) – [Bernard] I’m nervous for it. – [Olly] All right. (leaves crunching) – [Brendan] It’s really fun, isn’t it? (mellow music) – [Steve] Easy, easy. – [Bernard] Steve’s up! (mellow music) – [Brendan] Steve’s
real good at this stuff. – Oh! (laughing) – [Brendan] Oh my god!
(laughing) Oh my god! (laughing) Oh my god, it’s so good.
(laughing) – Look at the Steve sized print! (laughing) You were so close! (laughing) – [Brendan] Oh my god, that
could not have gone better! (laughing) Is that a two or a five? – [Bernard] I think
that’s a five isn’t it? Its gone very quiet in the woods. – [Bernard] Wide line. – [Steve] Oh, squeezed it! Look at that!
(laughing) – [Bernard] Nice!
– [Brendan] Too easy! (upbeat music) – [Bernard] Yeah!
(laughing) (upbeat music) – [Brendan] That’s a big old blood run! (upbeat music) – So this is up, around the top pine tree and then off the drop off. – [Olly] Anyway you want? – [Brendan] About a two for a drop off. – That’s hard that is. – [Bernard] Oh, no! – [Olly] Come on, no! Off the ramp and you’re gold! (Steve screaming) What gear are you in?
– Impressive! – I feel more pressure now. – [Steve] Oh, I’ve been
on eco the whole time – [Bernard] Yeah, its easy! Oh!
(laughing) (muffled shouting) – Everybody else is out! – [Steve] You can roll back if you want! (mellow music) (laughing) – [Bernard] Oh I think
that’s about to be two. – [Brendan and Bernard] Two. – [Bernard] Yeah, he’s up. (mellow music) Nice! – [Brendan] Lovely. (laughing) – [Steve] Here’s Bernard,
oh he’s got it, he’s got it! – [Brendan] Really nice! He’s got it! Oh, he’s got it!
– [Brendan] Wow! – [Olly] Now he’s got
to go between the trees. – [Steve] Nice!
– [Brendan] Beautiful. – [Steve] He’s got shorties on didn’t he? – [Olly] Yeah. – [Steve] Do you think the
tire choice comes into this? – [Olly] 100%. – [Brendan] Yeah, oh!
– [Steve] Clean! – [Brendan] Really nice! – Oh, here comes Brendan Fairclough. I reckon he’s got about
50 psi in his back tire. Oh, the speed approach! – [Brendan] Oh, too easy! (laughing) (upbeat music) (laughing) – Beautiful! – Well, I say we move on. Good work guys, good work! (upbeat music) – We’ve got a slalom course in the bog. – Bog slalom?
– Bog slalom. – So, we’ve got a nice
cut and burn number one, you’ve got to get around all the parts and over the finish line, quickest time. – All right, mark two
seconds for every dab? – Two seconds a dab. – All right.
– Lets roll. Go on Bernard. – [Brendan] Three, two, one, go! – [Olly] Here comes the Hardline winner. Oh, he’s going on hard, too. – [Brendan] Oh! Oh!
(laughing) – [Olly] That’s a dab!
– [Brendan] Keep it going! (laughing) Keep it going! – 10.9, so that’s 12.9. – [Brendan] Three, two, one, go! – [Bernard] Oh, he’s off. – Oh, (horn honking) that! (laughing)
– [Brendan] Keep it going! Keep it going!
(laughing) (thudding)

Yes! – [Steve] Olly, clear winner isn’t it? – [Olly] Three, two, one, go! Here he is sports fans. Oh look it! – [Bernard] Oh, come on! (laughing) – [Steve] Whoa!
(laughing) (laughter drowns out speaker) (upbeat music) – Well this is Steve’s silly one. It’s called round the rock, and he’s going to show us what
it is because we don’t know. (upbeat music) – [Bernard] Oh, okay. – [Brendan] Yeah, yeah, oh! – [Bernard] Oh, lovely! Is it still going?
– Yeah. – Ohh! – Oh my god!
– Oh my god! – He didn’t know where he was
going, just blindly pedaling. – Wow! – [Steve] Double point for this one! (laughing) – Double points? He’s decided now he’s cleaned
it that it’s double points. – All right, I’m in. (upbeat music) (record scratching) (upbeat music) – Oh!
(laughing) – I reckon one. (upbeat music) – Ow! (upbeat music) – Oh, nice! (clapping) – I’m going. (upbeat music) – [Bernard] Here he goes. Just a drive through here I reckon. Yes!
– [Brendan] Oh baby! Nailed it! – [Bernard] Halfway around the rock! – [Brendan] Nailed it! – [Bernard] Full power, Olly Wilkins, he’s going to gap the lot. – [Brendan] Nailed it!
– [Steve] Olly! (laughing) – [Bernard] Go on, Brendan. I wouldn’t have liked
it personally, but… here it is. Oh, the tires go straight through, he’s got to get front wheel left. Too easy. – [Olly] Wow, really nice. – [Bernard] Now he’s just
going to cruise back over it. Changes the gear with a little stoppie. He knows what he’s up to. Rob Warner would be proud of this. Ah, lovely, textbook. Well I lost that one. (upbeat music) So, we’re going to go off this
jump and land in a stoppie. Whoever can go the furthest. Lets go. (brakes screeching) – There we go, that is Brendan’s stoppie. – [Brendan] Ramp up. – [Steve] Oh, he’s slid–
– [Olly] Nailed it! – [Bernard] Here he goes! (crunching)
Oh! (crunching) – Oh, did you see that? (crunching) – [Brendan] Yey! – [Steve] Oh my goodness! – [Bernard] Yeow! – [Steve] Oh! – [Brendan] Bernard wins!
– [Olly] Huh? – [Brendan] Bernard wins!
– [Olly] Bernard wins? – Happy about that last one. Thank you very much. (rock music) (rattling)
(rock music) – Ow!
(laughing) – [Bernard] There’s steam
coming off your brakes, Steve! (rock music) (rattling)
(rock music) Yeah, dog! (rock music) – So, number one was the wheelie challenge with your motor off and Steve
you unanimously lost that one. We all did very well, but anyways. – Now to the bench! – Yup, number two was the S bench and I actually lost that
one because I dabbed. But, I got one. Brendan and Olly zero killed it. Steve you blew it and fell
off so you lost that one. – [Steve] Then we move to the bog. – Number three was the bog. – [Brendan] Oh, bog challenge! – And, it looks like
everyone did very well on that one apart from
Olly because he dabbed – I lost that one. – But, bog two! – [Bernard] Bog two,
everyone did very well. Steve this is where you
started your turtle day. You absolutely blew it, and you went hard onto your back, but it was very funny for us. (laughing) – The hill pipe was next,
another great challenge. We all did pretty well, bar the guy that decided
to lay down on his side, Olly Wilkins. – [Olly] I did a bad job. – [Bernard] Bad job, lost it,
two points for Olly Wilkins. – Six was where it got fun. It was the bog slalom, I went first, tried really hard and blew it. But, then the turtle came back again. – [Steve] Bernard, I’ve
got to say I’m really sorry about the bog challenge,
the slalom challenge because like that was
such a beautiful corner. – You blew it out as well, yeah. – Such a beautiful corner.
(all speaking at once) – We prepped up so good and then it just- – Ya know what, it was you entertaining when you were on your back again Steve. – [Olly] I enjoyed it. – [Bernard] And then Brendan came through the finish lines and won it. Next up was the around the
rock, Steve’s challenge and everyone actually cleared
that, Steve you were great. – Yeah, yeah.
(bottles clinking) – Cheers. And I lost that one, I dabbed once. And then the last challenge
of the day was the Stoppie. – Oh there you go!
– Land stoppie. – [Bernard] I’ll take that. Brendan was very close in second. Olly Wilkins had issues, so he was third. Steve forfeited that
one so dead last there. The results for the day though. In last place– – [Steve] The results of the day! – [Bernard] We have Steve Jones. – Its the fourth episode, it’s a shame. – At twenty one points,
and in third place, we have Olly Wilkins, on nine points. – Ah, I was hoping I wasn’t third. – And then in second place
is myself on five points. But, the big win today
already celebrating, Brendan Fairclough with three points! (laughing)
(cheering)
