Bicycle Tricks & Repair : How to Buy a Mountain Bike

Now, I’m going to show you how to buy a mountain
bike. There’s a few things that I recommend that you look for. The biggest thing is you
want to have at least twenty-one speeds, a good solid front shock, and the new thing
is disc brakes on it. The nice thing about the disc brakes is that you can go through
mud, sand, just about anything, and the brakes are still going to work and perform the way
that they’re supposed to. They’re not ever going to squeak. They won’t wear out as quickly.
They’re a little bit nicer setup for off-road riding. When getting sized for a mountain
bike you want to have at least two to three inches clearance on the top tube, and you
don’t want to be really stretched out really far on the bike. You want to have a slight
bend in your leg, with the ball of your toe on the pedals. Now, if you’re a female rider
and you’re looking for a mountain bike they do make women specific mountain bikes, like
this Raleigh Eva right here. The difference between a men’s frame and a women’s frame
is women tend to have longer legs and a shorter torso, so they integrate that into the frames.
The top tube length right here is a little bit shorter. It also comes with a little bit
more lightweight shock, a little bit more women friendly or female friendly, and it
also comes with a women specific saddle on it.
