5 Mountain Bikers To Follow In 2018

5 Mountain Bikers To Follow In 2018

– What can I do for you today? Well I tell you what I’ve been busy. I’ve sifted through the whole
world of mountain bike riders, and I’ve come up with a top
five you must follow in 2018. And it might be because they’re
going to get great results. It might be because they’re
inspiring or motivational. Or, maybe this is just the year they’re going to hit the headlines. Whatever the reason, this is top five of people you just cannot miss. We’ve got one, two, three, four, five and six, seven! Two curve balls just added in there just to make this even more fun. So let’s dive into the top five people you must follow in 2018. (relaxed electronic music) The first rider I’m going to
throw you to is Cecile Ravanel. Now you may be thinking “Well yeah, she’s won everything already”. You’re right. She’s a decorated cross-country rider, who’s moved over at EWS
and has won the series twice on the trot. In 2016 she won seven races. 2017 she was perfect,
no-one could touch her. But you know what’s really
interesting about Cecile this year? Is she’s going to be dipping
into some downhill racing. Now that could be really significant. Because if Cecile can make
the podium or do really well in some of these big downhill events, at Crankworx, maybe even some
world cups, think of that. She’ll be one of the very few riders that’s been able to branch
across mountain biking, cross-country, EWS and downhill. Is that possible? Well Cecile Ravanel is
going to tell us this year. Don’t miss what she gets up to. (relaxed electronic music) Next up I’m going to
throw you to a young gun. Or should I say young talent? Literally. Yes YT’s Vale Holl. This girl is unbelievable. So good, that YT have grabbed
her for a long-term contract. They saw her ride, and said “You must ride our bikes,
we want to help you, we want to nurture your riding
and nurture your career”. She’s got that big crew behind her and all that experience, and she’s coming into world
cups looking unbelievable. Sure, it’s going to be a tricky year, that first one finding her way. But I really feel like
Vale Holl could be doing some special things this year. Something that one of these young guns, these young talents has never done before; really tested people like Rachael Atherton and Tahnee Seagrave. They’re all in trouble
’cause Vale’s coming! (relaxed electronic music) Emil Johansson. This kid is spectacular,
and in his first full year of the FMB World Tour 2017 he did something remarkable. He won it. That’s right, at 18 years old
this guy is world champion, and what’s really, really
scary for his rivals, is he did it through consistency. That’s right. Actually Emil has never
won a Diamond Event at FMB. He’s placed second at
Joyride, at District Ride, and at Les Gets Crankworx. So that guy can pull it
altogether on the day. But he goes in at 2018 as world
champion, but never having won a Diamond Event. Which is a dangerous concoction. Because he’s got confidence
and he’s got hunger. Good luck everyone. (relaxed electronic music) Kirt Voreis. Yeah that’s right Kirt Voreis
he’s a racer from 1994. Started pro-mountain biking. He’s done downhill, he’s done dual times, he’s done great video edits. And you could probably argue
his time as a pro-mountain bike racer is over. But you know what? He’s as relevant as ever. Kirt is also an artist. And what he does with his posts on social is mix his riding skill with his artistic and creative brain, and
he comes up with riding that is absolutely banging. Stuff that either makes you laugh. Makes you think. Or just chuckle at the
sheer brilliance of it. So check him out. Don’t think that the old guys can’t do it, because Kirt proves you can. (relaxed electronic music) Finn Iles is a Whistler local, and he’s probably the
first of many superstars to come out of that region. Because it is a melting pot
of talent and opportunity. Finn has proved he can do it. He was world junior
downhill champ in 2016. And he was gutted to miss
out on the win in 2017. So he comes into the
seniors chomping at the bit to prove his place in the sport. His times over the last
couple of years have already proved he can do it. So watch out seniors, Finn Iles is coming. Don’t forget to follow him this year. (relaxed electronic music) Curve ball number one. Mike Hopkins. Now Mike is an incredibly talented rider. But he’s a great director too. And the reason I’m
throwing you towards Mike is because of his series
of DreamRide films. We’ve had episode one and two so far. But the shoot has already
begun on DreamRide three. Now these films take us
on a literal dream ride through how beautiful, rad, stunning mountain biking can be. And where you can take a
bike all over the globe. They are unbelievable films. They really are filled with inspiration, aspiration, and everything
you could ever want from a bike riding flick. So make sure you follow Mike and his crew, and see what DreamRide three is all about. Don’t miss it, it’s going to be awesome. (relaxed electronic music) Curve ball number two. Right, this one’s not even
a person, it’s a hashtag. #Gamblefilm. That’s right. Joe Bowman and Aaron
Bartlett are putting together something really cool here. It’s going to feature
some of the best riders who’ve ever got on a bike. Steve Peat; Loic Bruni; Phil Atwell, just to name a few. It’s going to get nuts. I’m not sure what the
story is going to be, but that’s what I like about it. We’re seeing this unfold on social media, and I a big vid it’s going
to be released at the end. So my curve ball is follow that hashtag, see what you get out of it, but I know at the end, the finished product is
going to be incredible. These riders are going to be delivering amazing content to you. So make sure you follow them. We’ve put links in the
description down below. Don’t miss out. Thanks for watching this video. Why don’t you check out some others? Over there we’ve got the worse
things about mountain biking. And over here we’ve got
what I think is the most important how-to ever made; how to do the perfect bike vault picture. That’s right, I do love the bike vault. Don’t forget to subscribe
and give us a thumbs up like. And make sure you follow those riders, they’re going to give you something great!
